I don’t need it to limit out by 7 every morning to be worth it. Just another option besides Lafitte. Even if just average hunts.

When we went to Sauvage it was just average hunts too. But like I said in OP, a lot easier just getting out there right before dawn as opposed to 3 am to beat other hunters on public.

Just wanted to see if anyone was familiar with that particular area. Thanks again

Near Bakers canal and Bayou Loutre

I’d rather pay for another pond and just have to beat daylight as opposed to being out there at 2-3 in the morning to beat other hunters on public. Lol

Hopedale duck hunting question

Posted by Tiger55 on 11/27/25 at 8:18 pm
I have a Camp and duck lease in Lafite. We also go deer hunting with my FIL in Mississippi. The last few years have been pretty rough as far as hunting goes in Lafitte . So we mainly deer hunted. Last year he became obsessed with duck hunting. My son, who is 15, and I have been making a few hunts in Bayou Sauvage. Did OK this year but man it’s hell getting up trying to beat everybody in public land. I’m trying to get him on some ducks.

I have a chance to pick up a pond in Hopedale. Does anybody hunt that area know if it’s any good in general? Thanks.

I currently work at a nursing home. When I was hired here, the executive director was the one who actually wrote the textbook you would study from if you want to take your test to get your nursing home license to run one.

Best advice I can give you is what he told me the day he interviewed me. When touring a nursing home, as you walk from the front to the back, pay attention to the smell.

Obviously if you smell urine and bad smells throughout the entire building, stay away from it. If all you smell throughout the entire facility is cleaning products, stay away from it because they are masking problems.

For the most part, it should be like your house, where you don’t smell anything. I’m not talking like smelling something in front of one room where someone had an accident, but the facility is a whole

There are some really good ones and some really bad ones, do your homework before you put your loved one in one. Also go online to the state surveys, and look at their rankings. They’re ranked by a star rating, one through five, with five being the highest. This is not yelp scores or something like that, it’s based off of state inspection, surveys, and such. Do your homework before you put a loved one in a nursing home.
The all day rain helped a lot with this issue.

Do your research. They are having an absolutely major problem with transmissions. I’ve owned nothing but Chevys, my whole life, but just ordered a Tundra.

My current Chevy Silverado had a new transmission put in two years ago. It’s currently in the shop having that transmission replaced under the warranty because of shuddering problems.

If you Google transmission problems in Chevys or GMC trucks, you will see it’s a major problem. Our mechanic that our whole family uses says exactly what I said above. Just some advice.

I’m actually sitting doing the same thing. My son is now 15 and have no clue how that happened.

I was told an expression a long time ago when I was young. It never made sense until I’m older.

The days are long, but the years are short. That expression makes more sense every day.
quote:

So my daughter and son in law were planning to take my 7 y/o grandson to his first game this year.

daughter wants us to go with them as well so we can share in grandsons first Tiger Stadium experience.

Does it really matter where you sit if you get to experience this with him? It sounds like it’s an extra game you’ll go to anyway so who cares as long as you’re with your daughter, son-in-law, and especially your grandson.

Didn’t mean above as an arse type remark, just take time to appreciate the things you can, and that are important.
The house I bought a few years ago had a mixture of three different kinds of grass in my front yard along with a ton of weeds. Long as I kept it cut, it didn’t look bad. Last year I had a massive break out of Virginia, button weed before I even knew what it was. It got so bad that it was choking up my lawn more every few steps. During the winter I decided to treat it, when I did over half my lawn was mud. So I decided to nuke my entire yard at the end of the winter and plant fresh grass.

I went with Zoysia Palisades. My neighbor is infested with it, he’s not doing anything with it. So every week I use Celsius in spot spray any new little sprigs I see coming up. Within a few days they’re going. I’ll probably be doing this as long as I’m alive, but it’s keeping it from growing at all, or should I say spreading at all.

Purple and Gold ratio

Posted by Tiger55 on 6/21/25 at 5:25 pm
In stadium now. First time here. Only about 20% of fans in stadium now.

Both inside and immediately outside seemed like 95% purple and gold. Will definitely feel like a home game. This is awesome!!!

Hardly saw any CC fans the last two days. Easy to see why Omaha loves when we make it and go deep in series. Almost anywhere we walked into was the same ratio. I would have no clue who we were playing based on other teams fans. Think I saw more Arkansas fans lingering around then CC fans
We just passed Little Rock a few minutes ago. Saw one other LSU truck a little while back

Same here. I just looked and outfield seats at the cheapest around $256 each. Just curious if people think that those prices would come down some by game day
If LSU makes it to the championship series, any guesstimate on what you think tickets would be going for the day of the first game?

Which sites have y’all have most luck with on getting tickets for these games?
Was supposed to, but suddenly can’t go. I heard it’s great event but every year something seems to pop up where I can’t make it. I have a pair of tickets for sale on the ticket exchange below cost And no feesif anybody is still looking for tickets.

Bayou Sauvage

Posted by Tiger55 on 12/9/24 at 4:16 pm
We have a lease and duck hunt in Lafitte, It’s been pretty dismal the last few years with exception of a fluke weekend here or there.

My 14 year-old is getting frustrated and wants to try someplace different. Somebody recently mentioned to me that Bayou Sauvage Is a youth hunting area. Has anybody hunted this area recently and had any success?

Was going to try to go scout it maybe a week from this Friday. Has anybody hunted this area and would be willing to share some information. Especially if your son is past 15 where you won’t be hunting it again and giving up your honey hole? Lol. Thanks

re: Flea treatment for dogs?

Posted by Tiger55 on 2/9/24 at 7:30 am to
Give them a bath with Dawn dish detergent. It’s extremely mild and kills fleas. Basically I would give them two baths with it back to back. Make sure they’re completely coated between their paws, between the pads on their feet, everywhere. Start at the head and work your way down. Rinse repeat.

A friend of ours rescued a cat and brought it to the vet. That’s what the vet used as the initial treatment. It’s very mild on the skin, unlike most flea soaps.

My yellow lab must’ve stepped on a pile of them or something in the woods, even though she’s on the treatment. She started it scratching, so I did this to her and could literally see the fleas dead on her surface coat as I’m washing her.
Get up and run your dishwasher or a load of laundry I. The middle of the night.
