Yep. A favorite strategy is to claim the fiancé had no agency to sign the document as she didn’t understand it. A more nefarious angle is to claim she felt threatened, and “even though it wasn’t explicitly said, I felt signing the document was an ultimatum.” Many judges will decree it as being signed under duress at that point and thus void. I don’t know another context where the thought of not getting something you want if you don’t sign a document considered “duress.”
Former NBA player Stephen Jackson has a story about this. Him and his girl agreed on a prenup but she didn’t sign. Day of wedding she still didn’t sign. He starts crying and she then says she’ll sign. Thinking that shite will get thrown out he called off the wedding.

Ok with the 4 million and child support goes off a grid but 32k alimony for how long ????
Doesn’t say but after being married over 10 years in California = she is paid for life (or he can’t afford it anymore)

And she was probably told as such. Because again, if you try to make it a condition of the wedding, you are giving easy fodder to a lawyer/judge.
Just agree and delay, delay, delay.
Just agree and delay, delay, delay.

I mean, WTF else is a contract? Are we arguing that a contract is now a condition of employment and it’s too stressful for me not to sign it and work for you? Or hell my rate is too stressful for me to close on this house I’m buying

Rogan often told the story of one of his very wealthy friends that was financially ruined in a divorce. Iliza Schlesinger (sp?) came on and made a pretty good point that the woman likely left her career (if she ever had one) and would have no value in the modern workforce. Additionally, she was likely divorced past her prime and wouldn’t have a reasonable pool of candidates for future relationships. Thus a woman should be deserving of alimony.
I mean I’d hate to pay that shite, but I have an extended family member who went from upper middle class to working a part time big box retail job because she was old, disabled, and has to stay under the threshold not to lose her Medicare. Her house is falling apart and smells like animal piss. It’s sad.

Ive listened to Carolla for a long time. His son is very much like him but his daughter and Lynette are very different. If I had to guess his daughter got a lot of Lynette and Adam's mom's genes as while he never degrades her, its clear she gives him hell on a daily basis. Adam built an empire from nothing and didnt get a break till he was over 30 when he met Jimmy. Lynette was a pretty girl that was just worked TV when he was getting started(but already successful). If she had never married Adam, shed still be working a dead end TV job but instead, she was awarded cash and prizes beyond what she could have ever earned on her own.
Its a real damn shame

According to the link i posted earlier, he made his first million dollars in 1998.. then continued to earn over $1 million per year after that.. if he got married in 2002 without a prenup- then he is a colossal moron.. not saying he deserves being taken to the cleaners, dont get it twisted- but if you make even multiple hundreds of thousands per year- let alone millions- and get married without a prenup you are not a sharp individual despite whatever you do for a living , full stop .

That’s pretty common language in most custody agreements, but it has no teeth and isn’t really enforceable
The same language was in my divorce papers but it never prevented my ex wife from talking shite.

He’s got a net worth of at least $25 million. $4m is nothing for him

I stopped listening in 2016 after Podcast One bought the show and ruined it. But I am legit surprised his estate isn't worth more than this. I would have guessed the car collection was more like $50M at this point. He was early and always kept buying.

32k monthly spousal support

17k monthly child support

Pre-nups should be the order of the day, because state legislatures aren't going to change the ridiculously slanted divorce and support laws.

Ok, so what did she bring to the marriage?
I think Adam gave her the Carolla Drinks business to run and she did at least one podcast with a friend of hers but it didn’t last long because the NJ accents were so annoying.
Lynette liked to take trips to see Bruce Springsteen in concert all across the country. Meanwhile, Adam was waking up at 4:00AM to catch a Southwest flight to a weekend standup gig.
Adam owns houses in La Quinata (spelling) and Malibu as well as a couple of warehouses to house his cars, fabricating shop, and podcast studio. I think his cars are mostly those he actually races so maybe not as expensive as you’d think.
I think he got tired of not feeling respected or appreciated in the marriage and she probably felt he wasn’t a good, loving partner.

Do you know why divorce is so damn expensive? Because it’s so fricking worth it.
