Mississippi has an open carry law, so if I am walking down the street with a gun in my hand or on my hip the Police can't do anything about it.

The gang guys all drive silver or black Toyotas (usually stolen) with blacked out windows and carry extended clip pistols with those "turn my pistol into an automatic" hammer devices. When the cops get to these shooting sites, they almost always find a body or two on the ground and thirty or forty shell casings on the ground.

The police have a pretty high arrest record in response to the shootings. They catch and arrest the shooters, then the "woke" DA and judges in Jackson let them out with no bond and never take the case to trial because they are from a disadvantaged class. I can't tell you how many the News guys report a young black guy who kills someone as being out on Bail Bond or arrested four times for violence carjacking or whatever with charges dropped or trial delayed three times over the past two years.

Jackson in a really sad situation that will require a special high-capacity prison and total reform of the local justice system to have any impact. What Jackson needs is to put two hundred young black men in jail for 40-60 years. That might have an impact.

How about the people in this community stop murdering each other?

Former Bham mayor Bernard Kincaid had one better:

With that said, there's some gas station around here they are trying to do the same thing with. It's a clownshow.

2,000*

Jackson needs widespread heavy enforcement of violent crime from both police and DA. The police however are underfunded and the DAs office likes to let these guys out of jail.

A zero tolerance approach to violence is what Jackson, New Orleans, Memphis, etc. need, but will never get. There isn't funding because tax payers are fleeing and the budget is completely fricked. And there isn't support for it because the black community hasn't had enough killing yet.

On notice for what? Explain to me what the store owner is doing wrong......explain it to me like I'm 5.

I suppose the more logical solution of posting up marked units in the area is too obvious?

quote:

Someone said “The owner should have the integrity of a human being for [himself] to say, we need to shut this down”

Coming from the same segment of society where it is frowned upon to talk/assist the police with their investigations. And in some cases there has been blow back for those that do work with the police.

Jackson is essentially Wakanda in real life.

It is the largest and most long established city in a relatively small state (population wise). It is the capitol city. It's a city where 80%+ of the residents are black. The city with the largest percentage of black residents in the entire USA.

The mayor is black. The city council is made up of a 5-2 black majority. The Chief of Police as well as the entire command staff are black men. Same for the fire department except one white man. The Sheriff is black. The DA is a black man. Every Circuit Court judge in Hinds Co. is black. Essentially the head of every public department is a black person.

The people that do stuff like this are only after their own self-enrichment. It actually doesn't surprise me at all he would have this. He is his own brand name, and that is what he is selling.

He is there and they are there. Do you think for a minute they are going to blame themselves?

I live in Clinton and you couldn't pay me a hundred dollars to go to that gas station. I would bet you a hundred the owner is Indian or Mid-eastern and has every cent they have in the world invested in that station.

Actually Stokes is simply doing the best he can for his district, which is a high percentage of crime in Jackson, with no way to stop it.

For years they said it was gang members who left NO after Katrina who were responsible for the increase in crime in both Jackson and Meridian. I do know it was a lot better in both places before Katrina drove so many ethnics out of NO for dryer places.

So, Jackson MS is about 80% of what the actual wakanda is ? When the city is eventually 99% black will the 'community' STILL blame whitey for their OWN cluster%^$&* of a city ? Was Jackson 'historically' a well run city when it had competent leadership ? IF so, what happened/changed ?

It’s always something else.

Those greedy corporations!! Get em!! Let’s not prosecute theft if they won’t pay most of their income in tax.

Then:

“Wahhh!! We don’t have any pharmacys!!! Wahhh!!! We don’t have any grocery stores!!!

Those police.. they are hunting us…. Defund!!! Riot!!!

Then:

“My car!! My property!! My home!!! All broken in to!! I don’t feel safe!!! I’m skeered!!”

Now it’s gas stations. Friken small businesses are now the issue. Again.. absolutely NOT the obvious. Yep. Small business is the problem.

Neither me or anyone I know needs any of that as a deterrent from shooting someone else, but black folks do? Black folks need all that, just to keep from shooting each other?
