I blame the military (MIL). Every other word was 3 letters all capped.

You would crash out in the military. I had many conversations that were nothing but acronyms, variations of the word frick, and a few conjunctions.
Agreed it was a complete CF but we left them FUBAR!

What’s the point of the acronym if you’re just gonna spell out the whole phrase right next to it. Pick one or the other(“POOTO”)
Some of you guys are retarded.
Also, nothing wrong with that email at all.

Try reading an H&P from a doctor. They just make up their own damn acronyms. The medical field already has enough, no need for new nonsense ones.
Most doctors can’t read notes from ophthalmologists. That shite is like a voodoo hex or something.

In my old job, we were required to spell out the words on the first use and follow with the abbreviation in parentheses. Then we could use the abbreviation. I always thought that this was a pretty reasonable process.

”And now it is with PWA's, CWA's, NRA's, AAA's, J-UG's, G-IN's, and every other flimsy combination that the country finds its affairs and business tangled to where no one can recognize.”

My brain read tight end and I rolled with it until the sentence made no sense. Then I backed up and looked for the meaning. I kept having to do that anyway for all the other abbreviations…errrr initialisms.

I don’t know how other companies are, but Caterpillar has a longstanding acronym fetish going back decades. At one point they even put out a dictionary of corporate acronyms that was every bit as big as your average Webster.

United Parcel Service wrote the book on acronyms right down to making the name of the company an acronym and building the brand around it. An acronym is nothing more than finding an efficient, quicker way to express a string of words. UPS’s entire business model has always revolved around efficiency.
