re: A shout out to everyone who survived or went through Hurricane Katrina

I was in Mississippi, no looting in my area, we were all just helping each other. I think I gave away 3 generators ans a dozen room ACs, as we were on the hospitals power grid so we got power within a week. We were all just finding bodies etc. If I heard you were dead you were fine, amazing what happens when communication is word of mouth. My brother send 2 18 wheelers of shite to me, and we had so much shite and stuff we could barely give it away. (Snow shovels are great for cleaning up debris btw)

In my little church no one died from Katrina directly, but about half lost their homes as my church was right off the beach and many members lived on the beach or close to it. We buried someone almost every week for that year, it was just too much for many of our older members. So no one died from the storm but it really killed about 60 of our members. (Thanks to the church’s in California that bought us a new roof etc. You personally saved me 20k as I agreed to pay 25k for the new roof and renovations before the storm.Even though I moved I went to make my annual payment as I had agreed to do it and they laughed at me, saying we don’t need any money for the a long time)

BTW if you are Red Cross worker, etc DO NOT in a public place explain to your new worker how fricked we really all are. I was sitting right behind you on the damn plane, and I had no clue at that time, I was going to lose all my friends, etc. You did not make it better.

My life was never the same, I remember one day probably the next year I was commuting to work from my home in Alabama and pulled over on the side of the road and cried like a baby for 20 minutes. I am still not sure why, it was just all the loss. I am not an emotional person, I didn’t even cry at my father’s funeral when I was 18, and we were very close. Just part of the Katrina Craziness I guess.

The landing was just the start of the misery, it lasted for years. BTW Snake Farm is back at it again
