Per Google, the United States population is currently estimated to be 342.6 million people.

So if each man, woman, and child will remit $116,755 to the US Treasury Department, we can temporarily erase the debt.

Thank you for your prompt attention and payment!

Now do the math at our current deficit and adjust it for inflation to see how long it would take us to get back to where we are now

What’s wrong with having debt? Will USA not get approved for a mortgage? Will they repo Louisiana Purchase?

OT ballers should already be paying more than that in taxes every year, so why aren't we making progress?

Hell, freeze discretionary spending at current levels for five years and let revenue catch up.

This can be brought under control, but it would be painful and cause a lot of violent unrest. Here’s the reality: The parasites have to take less. Every non-citizen needs to have no access to government benefits and the tens of millions of third world illegals squatting here need to be expelled. Anything short of this is just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Our government steals from us.

They all steal our taxes by funneling tax money through corporations and foundations via bloated contracts that end up back to them.

And then tell us to be mad out your neighbor for paying less taxes than you.

The only way we will ever get rid of the debt is if we burned it all to the ground and started over.

So just stop paying taxes. Commit fraud. They do it. Why should we care?

Not against it or even more just curious.

Of course not.

None of the suggestions in here would be enough because that money would just get funneled somewhere else.

I don't know the exact answer to pay off the debt but I know that a democrat and a republican arguing over the debt is like two drunks arguing over a bar tab on the Titanic

Discretionary spending really isn’t the problem. No one wants to talk about the elephant in the room.

If you don’t understand what the problem is why even bother posting in a thread like this?

The interest payments. That’s what is wrong.

At 3 percent interest that’s 1.2 trillion a year just in interest.
