It's never been in the city limits from the creation of the Standard Oil facility, IIRC.
That facility had been there only 10 years when my Paw Paw went to work there in 1919. I had no idea it wasn't in the city limits.

Who's the front-runner for the new St. George Mayor? Bodi White?

Can you please add a bullet about SWB quietly annexing the Mall of LA, the casino and the Siegen Lane corridor just to frick St. George? And how the city is getting the tax revenue from those locations while EBRSO is stuck with patrolling them? That was such a shitty move on her part.

When the mall of LA was annexed she wasn't mayor. I don't need to include any bashing of SWB. She's doing a swell job on her own.

I’m voting for Murrell

Oh Moses smell the fricking roses.
Let me ask a question. When the new school system is started is everyone here going to immediately put their kids into Woodlawn?

for frick's sake. It's been less than 48 hours and your property is going up. You may not be racist, but you're retarded.

It’ll go up some soon, once things start being put into place but probably not right away.

You sure seem angry for someone who has supposedly moved on...

I doubt anyone sees much of a localized increase until a school district is up and running.

Bro its just so hard moving on after so long. Let him get it out of his system. Big step here.

How good do people suppose this school district is going to be? It's still in La and still public.

This was done when Kip Holden was mayor.
Jesus don’t you people ever confirm before posting?

White flight didn’t happen because of poor schools; it happened because of white flight. So the Income leaves the city goes out to the suburbs and they have more than enough to build schools double the police they need etc. Meanwhile there’s no left money left in the cities; the schools deteriorate, there aren't enough police. But the jobs are still in the cities, the income earned in the cities, but not the tax base.
Until we figure out a way to eliminate poverty, cities will always have a lot of poor people.
Saint George is worse because you get the benefits of city living, while putting the financial burden on someone else. At least suburbans live in the suburbs.

Part of why St George happened was because BR was balancing their books off $64m in revenue from St George that went into the general fund.
BRPD and BRFD want their $35m cut of that? They better start covering the area paying for them.

I'm sure its just a coincidence that EBR has always had the worst schools in the state, the LP and the AP have experienced the fastest growth in the state of any areas, ever, and they each have schools in the top 5. Just accept the fact that no one wants to send their children to EBR schools and no one has ever wanted to, thus, they flew east and south (and north to Z). The schools are just as bad now, people are leaving just as fast now and the same empty promises are rolling in with each new school administrator who takes the reins. It won't get better in our lifetime regardless of which snake oil the next leader bottles up and shoves down your throat.

Sweet! Who will be bearing the burden of paying for our city living out here? This is better than I thought.

I've heard its racist though because somehow the less fortunate who need assistance will now receive less assistance and attention.
They are supposedly going to be worse off..and all things for them as they are left behind and forgotten, etc.
Same old..same old
