If he had that much fire power and gave up like that, he definitely wasn’t about that life

what was the fireman going to do if the kid got up and walked away ?

A good question that I always wonder in cases like this, when a civilian detained someone at gun point.

Last year some guys in MS walked into a Wal-Mart with a M-4 assault rifle, a handgun and a machete. The cops couldn't do anything since no laws were being broken. The store asked them to leave which they did.

I hate to be that guy, but which laws did the armed man break?

I'm pretty sure he could be charged with terrorizing, even if he meant no harm.

He also didn't need the bullets on him, if he was just trying to observe behavior. knowutimean?

Isn't wearing body armor illegal in some states?

I think only Connecticut limits it to sworn officers etc. Most states just prevent felons and wearing it during the commission of a crime (extra charges). Some states like LA prevent them from being worn on school grounds.

This dumbass was walking around the Atlanta airport to pick up his daughter flying in.

That guy's a troll, but...

The last time I picked up someone at that airport, we rode back on MARTA. Most people are very well-behaved on MARTA, but there were a couple of young men on that particular train whose appearance and conduct played no small role in my decision to get a Georgia Weapons License not long after.

For whatever this is worth, they were the type of people who listen to Metal, not the type of people who listen to Rap.

So the next time I pick someone up at Hartsfield-Jackson, I will not have a rifle on a sling, but I will definitely be armed in the unsecured area of the airport, and it won't be to make a point.

If Mizzou is an open carry state as some here have said, then I doubt they can get him on weapons charges or carrying without a permit. If he didn't make a threat or point his gun at anyone I doubt they can get him on assault or attempted murder, etc.

You can bet the DA is gonna dig deep in the criminal code to find something though (as he should). They'll probably go down the "terroristic threat" avenue or some sort of intimidation statute. Either way this kid is a moron if this was all a stunt.

What this kid did prove, though, is how stupid open carry laws are. I'm OK with concealed handguns, not a fan of people walking around town with assault rifles. It makes the USA look fricking ridiculous.

Missouri is an open carry state. Pretty sure that off duty fireman just kidnapped that guy.

OP thought it was a victory for guns, turns out it was a loss.

Yes... And if he's found to have done nothing wrong he'll be released

I also had no problem with stop and frisk

Horse. fricking. shite.

If the police start apprehending everyone with a weapon your brain is going to explode.

I carry double that on me on a daily basis. If the zombie apocalypse starts I've got 130 mile journey home.

Might need to stash a few range packs in the truck just to make sure.

The comments in this thread are pretty surprising. If he was threatening people on Facebook live, OK fine. But otherwise, are you guys just OK with them arresting him just because he had a rifle and handgun?

According to OP he had a rifle, handgun, body armor, and ammunition, so yes, I'm ok with them arresting him under whatever the circumstances.

Probably some right to open carry dude

They will probably go after him for the usual bullshite inciting terror/riot type laws

Firefighter basically held this dude hostage, civilians shouldn't pull guns unless they are ready to shoot.

You don't have to break a law to be arrested... You can be held while the investigation is going on

They have to have reasonable suspicion that you are committing a crime or are about to. If Missouri is an open carry state it’s just suspicious activity and that isn’t a crime.

So a lawful concealed gun carrier stopped (he really didnt though) a different lawful gun carrier whose weapons were "big and scary."

Yall gun freaks are gonna have a time with these mental gymnastics.

Call me anti-American. But I'm not ok with this. I'm all for the 2nd amendment, and people being able to carry protection for themselves everywhere.

There is no reason at all for someone to be carrying a large-scale weapon like that. There is no other reason than to be an ahole who thinks they're a badass, while also spreading mass fear. Its stupid.

What makes a weapon "large-scale"?

No

I carry everyday and the fireman was prudent. He actually might be in more trouble than the kid trying to make a statement giving what has transpired in the last week. If the 20 yr old is innocent and decides to press charges.

People are getting shot up in random places. Sounds like this guy was just prepared.
