quote:I think the police did. Though they haven't yet specified what crime.
No one has come forward and said there was yet.
quote:Wrong.
At this time, the only crime we see being committed is kidnapping.

Like I said earlier, if they ban open carry, it will be no skin off my back in a practical sense, but from a principled standpoint, you're going to have a problem.
(I'm sure I'll also get shite on for that comment by the mob
ETA: don't we already infringe upon the right to bear arms by only allowing certain weapons to be owned by those with certain licenses? It's not like we never limit gun ownership.

quote:Yes it is. That's what I'm trying to point out: the principle in question is...2A or no 2A. Just because you judge the point of abridgement to be appropriate in this instance of public carry and the leftists judges it to be in the stockpiling of weapons in the home does NOT mean you disagree on the principle. You are just at different degrees of the SAME spectrum - namely, no 2A.
That is not the same scenario we are talking about here

Nope.

Again, what he was doing may not have been legal

quote:Depends on the detainment, but it's easy to imagine scenarios in which use of deadly force by him would have been entirely defensible.

Anyone here who suggests that this guy was only walking around Walmart with body armor, an assault rifle and 100 rounds of ammo in support of his right to open carry firearms is being disingenuous. He did this days after a mass shooting, at a Walmart to either scare the frick out of people or to commit a mass shooting himself.
To the ones saying the off duty fireman kidnapped him, don't act like you wouldn't do the same fricking thing if you were in that Walmart when that happened.

We already do that, don't we?
I think most "slippery slope" arguments are hogwash made up to rile the masses, but for the 2A, it's probably true.
It's probably already begun. The Supreme Court decision in Heller has laid a foundation for potential banning of guns to everywhere but the home.

quote:Right, and we already have public places where guns are banned. Schools, airports, churches, federal properties, etc...
