I knew a few professors / instructors who worked at Southern.

I don’t think the problem was necessarily the quality of the instructors as much as the administration who was running things and who would insist kids be passed along despite failing.

FTR, since this will inevitably get asked, one was a Cuban emigre who taught Spanish and also taught at a local HS as well while the other was a computer science professor who was doing research on AI.

When I was at LSU, engineering students went to Southern for some electives because of the relative ease of getting an A there.

I believe I could have graduated from Southern at 14.

But good for that kid. It’s a head start for him.

I can’t even imagine how shitty the physics instruction at SU is. I’ve worked with poorly taught physics majors many times, work with one now, and holy shite they suck.

I get a smart kid going to college and all, but the poor kid misses out on some of the best times of his life...

Screw that...

No, he means one that requires more than a 13 on the ACT to get in.

Considering all of his theories that have been proven wrong, I don't think it would have mattered either way.

unless we could have avoided nukes, in which case, send the motherfricker to trade school.

I don’t really care what college he went went to. Graduating at 15 from college is just plain impressive

I recall a bunch of LSU engineering students used to go over to SU to take dynamics (fvck that class) during summer school. The whole group made 100's on every test. They eventually banned this practice.

People like that will always be awkward but some might fizzle out if they have a strong connection with friends and no longer see them. Just because someone started a little later doesn’t mean they’ll be less of a scholar. It’s about the drive and want. People still need to work with other people so the ability to work well with others is a very important skill.

I hated Moorthys class. Swear it was harder than a ton of my senior classes and I took it senior year.

Some are 14 and in college, some are 16 in the 8th grade. Strange innit

I never understood “skipping” a ton of grade levels. It creates socially awkward people and what in the grand scheme of things does it help the person? Traded 10 years of being around his peers and developing social skills that he can still get a phd later.

I thought the same thing. Kudos to the kid by all means. I dont want to take anything away from his accomplishments.

But now what? Does he just go and get an official adult job at the age of 15 and 16. That sounds miserable for a teenager to do. Not only that, can a 15 year old even be mature enough to work with a bunch of people his parents' age and older?

I did well on moorthy’s tests (averaged 88), but my class was at 7:30. I ducked around and didn’t turn in homework for like the entire second half of the semester. Ended up with a borderline c/d.

frick 7:30 classes.

Probably because he was 11 and his parents didn’t want to send their pre teen across the country to figure it out on his own

I know his real name and found him online but forgot his screen name. Dude had the most outrageous threads about college and degrees and shite.
