If I refused the flu shot, I would be fired. It’s not hard to get the damn shot.

Based on several posts about the declining health of America’s poor and obese, there should be a mandate that all fast food and buffet style restaraunts require mandatory obesity vaccinations.

I passed up my flu shot at work and got a raise because they realized badasses don't worry about weak shite like the flu.

The flu. What a joke.

Try pneumonia.

Honestly, offering only healthy options to those on welfare would go such a far way.

Being overweight used to be a sign of wealth. Now it is a sign of ignorance, laziness, and poor socioeconomic conditions.

As someone who has worked at corner stores that take foodstamps, I'm all for this.

No reason should a family get $500 of food stamps and purchase $500 of junk food (coke, chips, ice cream, etc) and be able to call them groceries.

That's the problem, if its deemed groceries they can buy it. It needs to be more strict like produce, meats, etc...only fresh foods that needs to be cooked.

I wonder what percentage of food stamp users single/double job incomes that can't make ends meet vs jobless and just sit around at home because if its more of the latter, no reason they cant learn how to cook fresh produce. Not in this day and age where youtube can teach a dummy how to cook.

Well if you had a bad reaction....then you could easily obtain a medical exemption from your doctor and this wouldn’t pertain to you.

Exactly how would i go about getting proof of something that happened in 1998/99 , when god knows who was giving the shot, it was some random ‘healthcare’ company (and i use that term loosely) in an office building where i was working at the time.. and why should the onus be on me to even jump through such hoops? Flu shot is fine if you want it, but dont force others into it.

Can anyone imagine your surgeon coming to you and saying 'my religion doesn't allow me to wash up before surgery, let me go take a dump and then we'll go ahead and cut you open' ?

This hypothetical surgeon wouldn't make it through residency.

when we surveyed 50 chickens on whether or not they ever had the flu, the responded resoundingly "bwack"

using this, we decided to inject every human with a strain of chicken rna. what could go wrong?

A person should have the freedom to determine what is best for their body. If a person has taken flu shots in the past, but they still got the flu, why should they have to take the flu shot? The doctors are guessing. You are taking a flu shot based on a guess. If you want the shot, then get it. remember, you are taking it on a guess. Recently, these guesses have been incorrect more often than not. typically, I have gotten sick after taking the flu shot. I stopped taking the flu shot and have not gotten as sick. For me, flu shots have caused a sickness. They need to evaluate each individual before making a blanket requirement that may not be good for all. Each person reacts differently to medicine. That is not a guess.

You're free to decide what goes in your body, but if you opt against the flu shot, you're not working for this company. Even erring conservatively, studies suggest the flu vaccine reduces the risk of catching the flu by 40%. That's incredibly significant in health care.

Also, as a patient, would you prefer care at a hospital where everyone has the flu shot or a facility where no one has it? I know that's an extreme, but it still illustrates the point.

Never gotten a flu shot, and have never had the flu. The people I know who have gotten a flu shot, had the flu the same year... soo effective!

The effectiveness of a flu shot isn’t the issue of the story. The issue is they were told they’d have to leave the company if they refused to get the shot.

They didn’t get the shot. So they were made to leave the company. It’s no different than someone getting fired for not following any other fireable offense.

Got the flu shot every year for the past 8 years and didn't get the flu. Everyone Scruffy knows who got the shot didn't get the flu...very effective.

Yep. Not to mention that they then call any illness the "flu".

Let people wallow in their ignorance.

People also say they're out sick with flu during flu season when it was just a cold.

Influenza is beastly. If you have the real thing its not a rub some dirt on it event or even a bad cold. You're down for the count which is why it can easily become life threatening and fatal to small kids, old folks, and the immunocompromised.

I work with old folks. I get the shot for them as much as me so when I work with younger folks, I'm not carrying that back to old folks that may be compromised due to suppressants or recent surgeries.

Been in health care for 3 plus decades. I agree. Not safe for the patient then the rest doesn't matter.

Sorry to hijack but what ar your thoughts on Chicken Pox vaccine? Of the diseases that scare me, Chicken Pox is really low on the list considering pre-vaccine people were purposely infecting their kids just to get it over with. Plus Ive heard that there is concerns that the Chicken Pox vaccine could have something to do with th increase in Shingles bc folks are not getting the natural immune system boost they had gotten in the past when their children got the Chicken Pox.

Thoughts?
