That is one kilogram over Hafthor Bjornsson's previous world record. Raul is from Mexico and just popped up seemingly out of nowhere early last year with huge lifts online. He's 5'9" tall and weighs in at 364 lbs. By comparison, Hafthor (The Mountain from Game of Thrones) is a foot taller and was around a hundred pounds heavier when he first pulled 505kg. Thor had pushed the record to 510kg, but failed twice this year to lift a new record at the Enchanced Games......which really weren't enhanced quite enough.

doesn't count if he had to use straps to pick it up

It’s harder to deadlift when youre tall. The mexican had leverage on his side

Giant's Live put together a good video of world record lifts starting at 465kg. They did not include Thor's original 505kg WR lift during Covid times.

Three men on the planet have now officially lifted 500kg+.

Yep, Eddie did as well. That is what makes Thor becoming the massive deadlifter that he has become even more impressive. Brian Shaw is a similar size and was in on the 500kg chase at one time.

That’s the kind of weight us boomers were pulling back in high school but we didn’t have to put everything on the tick tock like you millenials

Hope he got his participation trophy

True but it also difficult to have the muscle to move that weight when you’re only 5’9. 364lbs is wild for someone that short.

I feel like that extra foot of height is a big disadvantage for deadlift

Maybe he should go Fullthor instead of just half.

You do realize Eddie is 6'3". He just looks short because he always is around Thor and Shaw.

It’s more about arm length in proportion to height rather than purely height. Also, sheer muscle mass is arguably the most important factor when you’re talking about lifting the amount of weight these guys take on. Yes, tall could have biomechanical challenges (shorter does as well), but it’s also just a bigger frame for more mass. There’s a reason most of the top guys fall somewhere between tall (I.e. someone like Hall at 6’2”) to giants like Shaw and Bjornsson.

That's still impressive.

Even just being able to bench your weight puts you in the top 1/3.

That's damn impressive.

I must interject though that I'm more impressed by Julius Maddox's 782.5 lb bench press record.

I think he could have had 800 if his loaders didn't screw up with his first official attempt.
