2019 Holiday Family Drama Thread: Anyone Dealing With Family Drama This Year?

Haven't going into the holiday season with family drama in awhile, but there is one side of my family that always ends up having temporary drama.. The day off. But it never lingers..
Anyone have to spend the day with inlaws they don't like? Deal with siblings that always has some bullshite going on? Watch football with some opinionated idiots who have no clue about football? Anything more extreme?

This seems minor compared to some of the unnecessary meaningless holiday conflicts.
But knock on wood, nothing is rearing it's ugly head this year heading into Thanksgiving. And when there is a conflict, it's ALWAYS, I mean always, the women.

My sister-in-law will end up inviting 3 or 4 people from her family to our family's Thanksgiving the day of, like she does every year. And she won't clear the invites with my mother-in-law who hosts Thanksgiving every year, so she'll end up scrambling to add chairs to tables, make sure there's enough food, etc.
It'd be one thing if these people didn't have anywhere to go for Thanksgiving, but they go to their family's for lunch. Last year she showed up with 6 people that weren't on the invite list. My mother-in-law is too nice to tell her to stop.

It's not real drama unless blows are exchanged, or two or more people get sloppy drunk and into a verbal altercation, or both.

That's kind of shitty. I am all for being social and meeting new people, but Thanksgiving is one of those days I just want to take it easy.. And for someone to just all of a sudden bring a group of people to the family gathering seems kind of selfish (especially if its people who have places to go. Its its people who had nowhere else to go, that's cool) But just to show up with people seems exhausting for whoever is hosting the party.

Holidays are not nearly as exciting after my wife's (no pics) uncles died. One was Bosnian and one was Serbian.

MIL is getting a hysterectomy on Tuesday. Putting it politely she already has crazy mood swings, can't imagine what it will be like post-surgery. I'll be preparing myself for WWIII on Thursday.

Nope
I’ll be working on Thanksgiving.
I’m drama free these days

One time at a Christmas family party (my mom's side has a huge family. There is a big Christmas eve party every year) one of my uncles left the window down in his truck. It had rained a lot that day and and the few days before.. One of my cousins was leaving and my uncle parked in away my cousin couldn't get out.. So instead of going ask my uncle to move, my cousin tried to maneuver his way out and while doing so he was spinning out and shot mud all over the side of my uncle's truck.. the side with the window open.
When he finally realized he couldn't work his way out, he went ask my uncle to move. When my uncle saw his truck, including the inside, was covered with mud, him and my cousin went at it.
They ended up on the ground, in some areas that was muddy. My cousin hit my uncle in the nose and it was bleeding.. They fight breaks up, my uncle decides he isn't moving his truck. About 20 mins later they go at it again. No one broke it up, they decided to let them go at it until they wear each other out.
After they went at it until they couldn't go anymore, my uncle went move his truck, my cousin left and it was as if it never happened..

Some family members start with the drama around halloween and keep if up til mardi gras.
They just can’t seem to find a way to get along

I'm going to be the only one in the house who wants to watch football while everyone else will turn the TV to whatever movie marathon is going on...could be worse, but it's pretty frickin annoying

How about a post about what you are thankful for? You will miss those same folks when they are gone.

I'm not here to point fingers. Just grateful that's all. Amen.

that's totally rude on the part of your SIL, but your MIL is a classy lady for making it work rather than making the unexpected guests feel bad... you should bring her a potted mum or something and let her know everyone notices her being awesome and taking the high road

Usually my grandparents just get super triggered about the subliminal messaging they believe is present in damn near every commercial.
Latest one I've heard is that the Dr. Pepper commercial with the girl who went to the other tailgate with the hibachi grill. They HATED that commercial because it promotes lesbianism.
It's funny to get them all riled up sometimes though.
