One time at a Christmas family party (my mom's side has a huge family. There is a big Christmas eve party every year) one of my uncles left the window down in his truck. It had rained a lot that day and and the few days before.. One of my cousins was leaving and my uncle parked in away my cousin couldn't get out.. So instead of going ask my uncle to move, my cousin tried to maneuver his way out and while doing so he was spinning out and shot mud all over the side of my uncle's truck.. the side with the window open. When he finally realized he couldn't work his way out, he went ask my uncle to move. When my uncle saw his truck, including the inside, was covered with mud, him and my cousin went at it. They ended up on the ground, in some areas that was muddy. My cousin hit my uncle in the nose and it was bleeding.. They fight breaks up, my uncle decides he isn't moving his truck. About 20 mins later they go at it again. No one broke it up, they decided to let them go at it until they wear each other out. After they went at it until they couldn't go anymore, my uncle went move his truck, my cousin left and it was as if it never happened..

How about a post about what you are thankful for? You will miss those same folks when they are gone.

Do that on Thanksgiving.. Don't take this thread so serious.

that's totally rude on the part of your SIL, but your MIL is a classy lady for making it work rather than making the unexpected guests feel bad.

Yeah, my MIL is saint. Pretty much everyone else wants to say something to her, but we all put on our happy faces and act happy to see them so as not to upset the MIL.

Ultimately it's really not a big deal as there is always plenty of food and we're a pretty laid back bunch.

Okay, should I say "Will anyone be with family, not because they are being forced to, but because they are an adult and will make the decision to do so..."?

SIL aside, your family sounds awesome.

The perfectionist in me would be freaking out that not everyone has a placecard/favor and comfortable seat, but ultimately I just want as many people to share in our bountiful table and good company as possible. Your MIL sounds similar.

My mom watches way too much bravo tv now, and looks to create tv drama in our normal lives now. We all live in Dallas, and have gone to my uncles big arse house in Grapevine for a couple of years now for thanksgiving. We all assume we are doing the same thing this year, but since my uncle didn't send a formal invitation to my mom this year, she took issue with it and said none of us are going and she s going to cook a big meal at home this year. So now we all have to sit in a room together and dodge her being mad at everyone for her having to make a big dinner. Cant wait...

Why would this bother you? You post with them every day.

I wasn’t invited to any family thanksgiving. I will probably go by rouses, get a loaf of bread and sandwich meat and go to work. Treat it like any other Thursday.

No one in my family truly cares about me. It’s all about what I can offer them. My parents are dead. My brother is dead. My cousins don’t care. I’m seeing a therapist so that gives me hope. I will walk on the treadmill at the gym and then come to work. I have no companion or kids. I am just feeling rejected by the entire world. It’s tough right now emotionally. I feel like I am a good caring man but I am still lonely and no one seems to want to help me.

Damn man, that is tough. I know when my dad passed that changed the dynamics of my family and eventually lost connection with his side of the family. I have two half siblings and their dad is involved in their life (which he wasn't when they were younger) and when we have family gatherings everything feels forced.

Either way, don't let it beat you down. If you were near me I'd invite you..But there has to be some up sides to not having a companion or kids right? You have nothing holding you down.. If you want, you could move somewhere and plant your own life...

That is true. I’ll focus on work and football tomorrow. I become bitter rather easily and I see this situation as a test. Happy thanksgiving to you OWEO

Happy Thanksgiving to you. It's just another day, in the big scheme of things so don't let it get to you all that much (easier said than done).. But football is always a good way to get your mind off of everything else.
