It's an insane equation that factors heavily on test scores, but there are ways to earn bonus points and all kinds of crap. In the end, the state board of education (John White) gets to determine the range of scores for each grade. Almost all Louisiana public schools were below an A and/or B, so they lowered the grading scale. It's a joke.

Jesus. SOme of these grades are atrocious. How are these schools not shut down? (I did not grow up in Louisiana or go through its private or public education system)

The school I teach at is a B and My wife's school where she teaches is a "Top Gainer" and My wife is also Teacher of the year for her school and I could not be more proud of her!
We just recently adopted our two oldest children and she has a full plate. While I am at football practice until 6:30 in the evenings she manages three kids and keeps up the house while also grading papers and planning for the next day for her classes she teaches.
