EBR Readiness
Not surprising because EBR Readiness is the school kids go to when kicked out of EBR public schools

My second grader had a test today on Povohontas, Jamestown and something else.
He got the material yesterday. Teacher was apologetic but basically said the test will be today because it must be today.
My fourth grader has very similar coursework to my second grader. It is like the reinforcement comes in thru years instead of weeks. Maybe that is best.
And their school is an A school

Unfortunately so much emphasis is being put on having students learn by "discovering" answers rather than students researching and studying. In theory it sounds great. A student discovers an answer instead of being told how something works and maybe they remember it better. The problem is discovery takes time. you cant just suddenly discover how biodiversity works or how humans impact ecosystems in a week. I have literally spent an entire unit of discovery learning on 2 standards. 2. i understand students learn differently, so why teach them all exactly the same and not deviate from the script, not move forward when a student is showing higher thinking. its restricting to teachers and it puts more emphasis on passing a test than it puts on learning.

The sad part is the EBR schools have an F rating but spending about 2K more per student than some of the amazing ISDs 5 hrs west of Baton Rouge.
I sincerely apologize if this offends anyone, don't mean to upset anyone just pointing out EBR is spending a lot of money and getting poor results.

EBR public schools outside of the magnets are mostly poor black kids. The middle class and up left the school system in droves in the 80s-90s for the suburban schools or private schools.

Those grades are too high. The "A" schools in Louisiana would probably be "C" schools in other states.

Almost all Louisiana public schools were below an A and/or B, so they lowered the grading scale. It's a joke.
It appears the grades are lower in the new formula than they were in the old.

Would be interesting to know how much they are spending per student for those results.
