I was there. Quite a sight to see. Favorite part was the counter-protesters there wearing flag shorts and one girl carrying a GIANT flag that she let drag on the ground the whole time.

I was sitting in some bullshite elective English class that day and word got around pretty quick. Dude was the poster-child of a soyboy and the ROTC guy was your typical d-bag. I was there, it was junior/seniorish year. I honestly have no idea, have not been on campus for anything other than sporting events and a couple of other events. Is the student body that radically different because of Fking Alexander? My niece is starting there in the fall.

a professor who knew him well swore to me that he never intended on burning it but was just trying to pull of some misguided free speech stunt
the kid who precipitated the whole thing by stealing a flag and burning it to begin with - right after we killed the world's leading terrorist - was a serious piece of shite who i think had serious mental problems

Wow. Would love to see how something like this would go today. The optimist in me thinks LSU students would behave similarly given the circumstances. Keep in mind, this was right after bin laden was killed so American pride was very high at the time. Unfortunately, I still think, with similar circumstances, we would not see a crowd like that and people saying “go back to New York, pussy!!”
