Obviously, 99.999% of them are not, but that wasn't the genesis of the response. I was responding to the OP's postulation that parents may lean toward this iver traditional sports.

I don't see it as random at all. At least at the current time gamers in college are almost all in some STEM track. There are about 20 colleges that have teams with scholarship players. Assuming eSports grows this correlation may certainly become less accurate.

People in this thread can hate but Fortnite is basically the chess of gaming. Takes a ton of awareness and savvy.

I made that before I was 30 if we’re keeping count.

I don't dispute the skill of navigating the Fortnite game but I hate its cultural impact on society.

The amount of time these kids spend staring at a screen has to be unhealthy. It’s literally their life, on weekends they’re not socializing because that’s when all the tournaments and stream viewing occurs. While other kids are socializing these kids are in their room missing out on life.

I’d guess for the very small percentage that actually make money, it works out but for the other 10+ million trying it’s unhealthy.

I would imagine the chances of becoming a pro athlete are better than becoming a pro gamer when you look a raw numbers.

STFU.

But let us push them towards a career where they stare at a screen even more.

So you'd rather your kid be a pro gamer than an engineer or doctor? Doctors are on computers often as well.

What are noble professions to you?

100s of millions of people play that and one made $3 million. The best regular sports athletes pay an order of magnitude more in taxes than that every year.

Yeah responses in here are stupid as shite. I grew up playing video games as well and was pretty good, I still was and am an athlete 20 years later and stare at a screen all day at my white collar job.

All the oilfield baws around here have no clue

They use a service called Twitch to watch a live stream of the players playing.

The top players make bank without winning competitions.

Oh yeah, Twitch is owned by Amazon.
