There are an awful lot of potential cons to life after a pro football career as well.

I dont think these esports participants are forfeiting a pro football career in favor of professional video games.

That said there is also a much higher probability that e-sports phenoms post "pro career" will be able to code.

Is this just a random assumption because they're assumed to be nerds?

He might have won but he his still a loser in my mind. Most excessive gamers are losers. They contribute nothing to society.

And an engineer actually participates to build things for the good of society, such as hospitals, schools, roads, pipelines, medical devices, etc..

Are you really equating these two fields of work?

$3M for winning a game?

Yeah but it's not easy. Out of all the millions of people that play this kid is in the top 0.001%. If you think it's easy, go ahead and sign up for these tourneys and beat these kids.

It's just like MOBA's. People think winning LoL is easy (it's not, trust me). The hours these guys put into LoL and DOTA2 is insane. It's essentially like being a professional athlete.

Most pro gamers help game companies test and develop games. They also can go on to create their own games or help market up and coming indie titles

There's big money in esports these days and it's only growing.

It's similar to any sport in some ways - sure, I can play that game. I can also throw a football. But I can't play Fortnite or football at anything remotely close to a professional level. It's entertaining for fans to watch these guys do things that are unimaginable.

Saw on the news this morning that a kid from Louisiana was in the competition. Any word on how he did?

Not anymore. The top 50 in the Fortnite world cup today made at least $100,000. 4 guys made over 1 million.

That's individual, not splitting with a team, and not splitting with an organization.

True, but I think other esports have much more lasting potential than fortnite. Fortnite is the current biggest, but CS has been around for 2 decades. A battle royale game is way too RNG based to last as an esport.

I’m going to bet that more parents start to train their kids for esports rather than sports.

The level of practice that it takes to play at that level is insane.

Yes. You'd be surprised at some of the groupie girls that follow this shite. They might have purple hair, but some of them are fine.

I was #1 in the world with Vega (not overall, just with that character) in super street fighter 4 on 360, all I got was a free sf zombie t shirt.
