When you hear the word sport it automatically allures athletic ability.

Ultimately outside of the traditional stick and ball sports, the term sport is fairly fluid and really comes down to opinion.

Do you consider shooting a sport? Competitive shooting is commonly referred to as "shooting sports". Somewhere packed away I have a college letter jacket for shooting. I could have shot prone and kneeling from a couch.

I watched a good portion of the World Cup yesterday and I am a regular viewer of a few streamers.

If you can’t grasp what is happening with the esports/entertainment then you are simply the “get off my lawn” old fart.

What these kids did over this tournament was damn impressive whether you like it/understand it or not. Hell, the kid that won was actually pretty damn normal from what I could tell.

My son (9yo) plays and he sucks terribly, but he has fun and it’s a total of MAYBE an hour a week (which is why he sucks). This is yet another thing that we can talk about and do together and have fun...particularly when it’s hot as balls or storming outside.

If fishing gets in, so can fortnite.

That's what I immediately thought when he used that definition.

Depending on the type of fishing it could be far more physical than eSports or not that much different.

I know this is a matter of opinion, and it is of my opinion that fishing isn’t a sport either.

I am not sure why people hate on this.

Esports is growing. And as much as I like poker, what's the difference between winning money playing for fortnite and winning money playing poker?

You have to grind doing either one.

And I am all for people making money. This is just another way that allows people to make money.

Ya the top 10 in the tournament are doing alright with the women, but the other 40 million that put in 8 hours a day on fortnite are just losers that will never get laid.

Aka Hu Flung Pu. All hes got left is talking shite to casual players on tigerdroppings about a video game that nobody really cares about but him.

It's an electronic sport. That has a different definition than just sport.

It threatens people when they make fun of kids watching competitive video games and they realize there's no difference to watching competitive sports.

It's watching other people do tasks that you physically cannot.

It's like watching a great chef do his thing. Or watching that glass blowing show on Netflix.

Requires skill: check
Often of a competitive nature: check

So it fits the definition.
