While their goofy arse kids are in the other room probably doing the same.

Ignorance.

I am too. Because the Duo's tournament yesterday** was won by a pair from the EU.

**The Duo's tourney had the same prize pool total as the solo tourney today, but they have to split the winnings.

Do esports pros get laid on the reg?

Many of them do.

A former Call of Duty pro was banging Yanet Garcia then broke up with her. Forgot the reasons but yea im pretty sure most esports guys get laid.

This is Tfue's (one of the top fortnite players in the world) girlfriend, Corinna Kopf.

They need to redesign that trophy so that the bottom doesnt bump into the faces of those that raise it up by the handles.

Also, what makes a person good at this game? Is there a large element of luck? I'm ignorant on this topic since I haven't played video games newer than Super Mario Kart 64.

Insane reflexes that pretty much only come with teens and early 20s kids. Insane spatial awareness. Photographic memory of the games maps, weapons, etc.

shite ain’t easy. I still play Halo for shits and giggles as a de-stressor from PT school. Pretty sure it’s the fricking kiddies killing me all the time. The hours they pour into these games is insane.

You've never heard that your reaction time gets slower as you age?

Ever see 30+ year olds at these things? No. I mean. I don’t follow this dumb esport shite, but when it pops up on espn, it’s all teenagers and college aged kids.

And your reflexes go as you age man, it sucks.

It makes sense, which goes back to my point of what the long term outcome would be for someone who participates in the competition.

I guess no one will play it long term.

Just to play Devils advocate, why would he be any less social spending time training as someone in the gym doing the same thing for any other sport?

Which is why they’re, sadly speaking, marketing geniuses. They take advantage of little dumbfrick preteens with their YT channels and twitch streams and rake in money when not playing in their tournaments. All to rake in as much dough before their asses start getting whipped by the newest horde of kids.

I think what will find as eSports matures that you will more see older players at the elite level. If it contiues to be a viable career path this 16yo may still be competitive at 30 and maybe beyond. If you look at other mature sports even if they rely on athleticism and reflexes as the elite player's age they tend to be able to offset losses on the physical side with gains on the mental side. Examples where elite level reflexes and reaction times are extremely important are F1 and Top Fuel racing. In both those endeavors, you see the elite often are competitive well beyond their 20s which is the age one usually hits the elite level if they are going to.

Yeah but it's not easy. Out of all the millions of people that play this kid is in the top 0.001%. If you think it's easy, go ahead and sign up for these tourneys and beat these kids.

The competition is fierce yeah but it’s more open than you think. Qualification is only 10 games and it’s open to anyone in the Champions League. Some of the best players in the game didn’t qualify and there are new names making waves constantly.
