My nephew's did that shite in their neighborhood a couple months ago, and the police caught them and took them back to their house and flat out said it was a real bad idea because of this possibility. Which sucks, because I used to do that same shite when I was their age. Sad times we live in.
How about don't raise annoying turd kids that bother strangers, especially late at night. This guy is obviously way in the wrong and will go to jail, but I doubt this was the first time if he was ready with a gun.
People just accepting their kids shitty behavior and not laying out consequences is a big problem these days.

boy ring a doorbell in east Houston
Shooter needs to do go to jail, but I wouldn’t ring a doorbell in most parts of east Houston in daylight.

This thread is an embarrassment. I am surprised many of you can reason well enough to survive urban rush hour.

But homeowner should not be arrested
One of the dumbest, most retarded statements I’ve ever seen in my life. Homeowner should get life. Going knocking has been a core childhood experience for generations. To fricking shoot kids running away after a knock prank is absolutely psychotic. This happened to me a few months ago and I was so happy seeing the reflection of the shoes running down the road. It made me smile to see that kids were still out messing around having the same experiences that most of us did growing up.

The shooter is fricked however you cut it. The kids weren't a threat, they retreated, it appears he didn't even shoot them on his own property, but the street.
Kind of surprised that some on this board think the homeowner was within his right to just randomly fire into the street.

If you think some teenager kicking your door is justification for putting a bullet in him then maybe you shouldn't have a gun
He said teenagers kicking your front door as hard as they can at night.
Teenagers do quite a lot of home invading and murder around here. This isn't a Brinks commercial or Home Alone, the violent criminals aren't mid-40s former cons.
A group of teenagers kicking your door at 11PM (I don't think this resembles the OP story) in a manner that resembles an attempt to kick in your door would be grounds for getting shot.

Do 11 year olds do the tiktok challenges crap?
There have been several shootings involving teens doing a tiktok challenge that involved something like ding ding ditch.
It doesn’t deserve getting shot at especially when it’s usually the prank’d person following or chasing them off property while shooting at them, but for teenagers with cars doing it many times it seemed like more was involved than what the elementary age ding dong ditching used to be. For driving age kids to be involved and to film it for tiktok getting a viral reaction from someone in the house has to be a goal.

They were not ringing doorbell or knocking, they would kick the double doors and hit with both hands at the same time.
This is different than knocking and running. I would take it as an attempted home invasion.

After 8pm I always answer the door with a Glock in my hand.
People that know me, understand.
People that don't know me, shouldn't knock on my door after 8pm.

News is updating that the shooter has been arrested and charged with murder.

Maybe wal mart will give you paid leave to defend the homeowner pro bono.

The laws in many states say this is grounds for use of deadly force.
Not surprising that some anti-gun retard such as yourself doesn’t even know the law despite making definitive statements like this.

Assuming that they didn’t kick the door in, the shooter definitely should be charged.
Kids also need to better understand the world we live in. More and more people are using increasingly powerful sleep aides. I’ve heard some crazy stories from friends taking Ambien and doing things in middle of night with no memory.
Even worse are recent incidents of teens egging cars from a bridge above (also Houston area).

Don’t know why I got downvoted so much for this. Here’s the LA law for justifiable homicide:
quote:
(4)(a) When committed by a person lawfully inside a dwelling, a place of business, or a motor vehicle as defined in R.S. 32:1(40) when the conflict began, against a person who is attempting to make an unlawful entry into the dwelling, place of business, or motor vehicle, or who has made an unlawful entry into the dwelling, place of business, or motor vehicle, and the person committing the homicide reasonably believes that the use of deadly force is necessary to prevent the entry or to compel the intruder to leave the dwelling, place of business, or motor vehicle.
