But people that know him….undersrand.
I learned an important lesson early in life, when a close family member was robbed and murdered, even though he was unarmed.
His murder has never been solved.
His policy was to not put up a fight in that situation, because it's only money.
Speculation is that his killer was someone he knew. So they had already planned to kill him so he couldn't identify them.
I stay armed.

11yr olds shouldn't be out pulling pranks at 11pm.
Agreed. But kids will be kids

Also, consequences- however wrong and illegal- rarely arrive with an age check.
Yes, consequences, like being grounded for a month and in bed at.8 PM. Not being shot in the back for a silly prank and being a kid, that's just cowardly and the homeowner needs to have the book thrown at him

I agree with you.
But... since assholes abound, keeping track of your kids and educating them on how to avoid these situations is key.

We called it Ring and Run.
Ring a doorbell and haul arse.
Ring a doorbell and haul arse.

Even cranky old mfers like me know better than that. I hid in the bushes with water hose and blasted them. The only problem is they did it more often as test of kidhood after that

No, watch your fricking kids. No one else likes them and if they show up to the wrong house at night they can be mistaken for a criminal and killed. That’s on the parents and no one else
You are getting downvoted, but there is fault on the parents here. Why is an 11 year old out at 11pm?

I've barely seen this asked and not ONCE seen this answered.
An 11yr old isn't a 14/15yr old (who also should be at home at 11pm).
One could easily make the argument that with proper parenting and oversight, this never COULD have happened.

I agree with you on the kid being out late, but he’s getting downvoted because he’s absolving the homeowner of any wrongdoing.
You can’t shoot someone for ringing your doorbell, assuming that’s all he did.
Posted on 9/1/25 at 6:28 pm to LSUTANGERINE
I can’t understand how ring a doorbell would make you feel like you were in danger and also, that seeing the person running away would qualify you to shoot at them

Unless there is more to the story
I remember some prank kids were pulling over the summer where they were kicking people’s doors down then running off. That’s a justified shooting, imo

I'm 60 and on the westbank we called it Ninja Knocking, or something similar...
Posted on 9/1/25 at 8:18 pm to auggie
Not sure if it’s been mentioned but a guy was arrested today for the shooting.

Cosmo, I read your post as a joke and laughed at it. I think I got it right.
