You can tell some dork that was just using "amount of refineries" as their defining metric wrote that article. Midland/Odessa is the highest output of GHGs anywhere, I can confirm as I worked for a company that has had multiple scathing articles and record fines levied against them

It's a geographically small city with a big arse central park, so that tracks.

However, it always humors me that "green space" metrics only include public green spaces while utterly ignoring whether the average person has "private green space", i.e. a yard.

They obviously haven't walked around Tigerland or any public area in BR lately. The smell of green is everywhere.

Funny how most of the cities are the opposite of the color green - concrete jungles with masses of people piled on top of a what used to be an ecosystem that could never support them in the first place. Meanwhile the South, which is literally blanketed with trees, plants, grass, lakes, wildlife, etc, doesn't register a blip.

What a f--king scam the "environmental" movement is. It's just a political circle jerk of fraud and thievery.

Seems like if you want to be green you got to live somewhere where the homeless live outside your business.

This list is purely idiotic. The "Energy Source" rating points are almost exclusively given by use of renewables, which aren't very green.

They have Raleigh ranked at 80th for clean energy. Most of the city power consumption is from nuclear. Ridiculous.

I agree on the small yards.

This metric in the study probably includes the Bayou Sauvage NWR and the marshes along Lakes Borgne, Catherine and Pontchartrain. That undevelopable part of NOLA is near 30,000 acres. You need a boat to enjoy it, but it is greenspace.

Oakland is #1?

Oak town is a lot of things but green doesn’t come to mind. Especially now that the As moved to Vegas.
