Place I used to work stopped giving out vacation days, and employees there have unlimited vacation for the same reason, do your job and as long as your job gets done, that's all the company cares about.

That's not why they got rid of vacation days.

Exactly, companies are moving to “unlimited vacation” so they can avoid paying out vacation when people quit (which is mandated in most states).

Years ago I managed IT for my small company. CEO had ne purchase a monitoring app to watch employees activities.

I looked at it sparingly and saw that most people goofed off as much as you would expect from WFH. Also uncovered an office affair. Doesn't matter where you sit, if you are working on a computer, it's the same.

I WFH most days now although I still go to the office some. I work more hours than I do at the office unfortunately. I don't care either way. I like the hybrid schedule for the most part.

Some people definitely dick off a lot and it's pretty noticeable. Just disappear for an hour or two at 9am.

This. Who wants to sweat their balls off for 35 years at a gas plant when you can do sales from home and make 85% as much.

I didn't realize how annoying my fellow employees were until I went back in to the office. Mind ya business Robert...I'm trying to work here.

I have a record shop and a lot of my daily work is at home going through collections of used records, listening to and pricing them.

I get so much more done when I take numerous breaks but keep coming back with a burst of energy instead of just sludging through them for hours at a time.

I had a buddy text me a picture of his WFH work station with an open beer and a bong in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday. He told me he’d like to make more money but he wasn’t giving up ‘this’ without a significant pay increase

There's more shite to do that is "work" than what you can actually bill a client for.

That’s why I phrased it this way:

If you’re being paid for 8 hours a day (and your paycheck reflects hourly pay) and you claim to be working 8 hours but only work 5, that’s not right in my opinion.

Now do onsite employees. I bet on-site employees in the same types of jobs are only logging 4-5 hours a day

Isn’t Tiger Droppings proof of that? I can’t imagine trolling this site from home on my own time.

Many offices in Baton Rouge have whiskey, vodka, weed, etc in the desk drawer. Maybe not national companies but local companies certainly do.
