They say 1 inch of rain equals a foot of snow, but what does 6 inches of sleet equal in snow terms? Because we're there and then some. Mine and the dogs' tracks in the yard are mostly gone from earlier, filled in with nothing but sleet.
Never thought of sleet being anything but a temporary between rain and snow, being from the south. Piling up to 6+ inches has to be some sort of record. We had a little snow mixed in last night, but the primary driver of this storm in Central Arkansas has been sleet and it continues to pile up

somehow still have power (it's flickering a lot) but a bunch of folks around us don't
I lost power around 2pm Saturday, but I’ve kept the fire going and it’s stayed fairly warm in my living room.
They were out pretty quick to fix it(something called a configurable switch). They thought they’d have it on by 6/6:15, but apparently lost transmission and had to leave before getting it back on. There’s only one road in/out of my neighborhood and they wanted to get the trucks out before it iced back over and they couldn’t get up the hill.
Hopefully they’ll be able to get back out here in the morning.
Worst case, I work disaster resource and can go up to the emergency operation center(EOC) and stay if I have to.

I can say with confidence that determing what to wear to duck hunt this morning is a hell of a decision. 71 degrees boat ride in, 39 degrees for boat ride out

Seems to have stopped sleeting in North Texas. But there is a lot pilled up on the roads.

Flipping lightning sleet/snow in central La.

I have access to my elderly parents security cams. Couldn't sleep so I logged in to see how things were going there. Looks like an inch or so of sleet in western NC. Coming down heavily. I pulled this image off them.
Good news is, right now, they must still have power and internet.

Strong line of storms coming through The Heights. Nothing too crazy here yet and the party is about to get started for us here in a few hours for us.

Another big rain maker for us in the woodlands, the weather app on my phone is showing “Heavy Snow”
Definetly just rain

It is 5 degress here in far NW Arkansas. My heat pump is running constantly. I had some sleet late yesterday afternoon followed by all night snow and it is still snowing.

It’s presently 66 degrees here in Mandeville and expecting a 40 degree drop. Plant killer for sure. I just went out and covered a couple beds anyway, blanket and tarp, knowing I was wasting my time trying to save them.
It’s coming.
It’s coming.

We’re in Batesville MS and just had a huge pine limb knock our electrical service line and weatherhead off the side of our house. Also broke a window on that side.
Waiting for daylight to assess the damage and take pic for insurance purposes.
Hope everyone stays safe.

I have good friends that live in Courtland on Fowler rd. I absolutely love it up there.

Not right now. I’m tapping my foot for sun-up to assess damage.

You need to have that eye bolt rod installed when it’s repaired. It’s hand sized and bolts on the side of the house. It’s the middle man between the box and line, and of course prevents damage

Sorry about your house/window - please stay safe!
We’re in Oxford and trees have been falling all around us for the few hours. No power since midnight.
We had a “fun” day yesterday with kids - sledding in sleet/ice, thought we’d gotten lucky, but we’re getting it tonight.
