Care about or know about.
I think some owners don't give a shite about the city but know the business of football.
I think some care but don't have success as winning owners.

Its is truly amazing to see people finally jumping on the bandwagon firing shite for brains, MICKEY LOOMIS.
This guy has been driving the franchise into the ground for 10 years.
I am to the point that I can't even watch them anymore.
I won't until Loomis is fired.
I am beyond sick of this shite. I am done.

Go get Tomlin and right the ship. He won’t win 5 SBs, but he will right the ship and can easily eke out 1 or 2 over a decade.

Three scenarios:
1. They beat the Giants & either lose close or beat Steelers and as long as they win 1-2 more later the year, probably saves everyone jobs until next year.
2. They beat Giants but get blasted by Steelers and I think it buys them until the end of the year.
3. They lose to the Giants and Steelers and Moore is gone and by the last couple of games it’s leaked Loomis will be retiring or resigning

but Gayle has a lot vested in Paris becoming a home away from home for the Saints and doesn’t want to be embarrassed
This says more about our ownership than probably anything else.
Basically she's OK with running two non-serious franchises and hoping for a .500 record, but if you embarass her in front of her fancy Paris friends then she's gonna be super mad!
The stuff about Loomis and Co not wanting to fire Dennis Allen also tells me alot. I used to think it was because they were stupid, but now I think its more because they just didnt want to have to actually work and do a coaching search.
The overall state of New Orleans sports feels like an Adam Sandler movie. The opening scene would be Gayle (played by Kathy Bates) telling Ole Tom (played by Henry Winkler) that he's signing the paperwork for a show horse and then, woops! You actually signed an amended will that cuts out your whole family. Oh, and also you bought a basketball team.

Firing a head coach after less than 1.5 years is a terrible look for any possible future hirings. Why would any coach want to come to New Orleans after they set that precedent?

Door #3 for me! This is already a lost season with their record and injuries. Get a top 5 pick and draft Simmons or if you're high enough trade back a little as Smith and some QBs will go first as we don't need those positions right now and get Simmons/Moore/top OT

Moore may be the best amongst Benson, Loomis and himself. Yet he is likely to go first because Benson isn’t going anywhere and Loomis retains some level of respect for something he did a long time ago but clearly can no longer deliver.

I did business with Gayle in the late 80’s and let me tell all of you she is an absolute dumb dumb. She has no clue about football. So hopefully she will sell the team to someone out there who will care about the team.
Some sort of interior design I suppose?

Moore coaches like a rookie coach, which he is. Loomis is a veteran GM who has proven that he is terrible at his job. Fire Loomis, retain Moore, and build through the draft instead of signing washed up injury bugs.

Many top GM hires are going to want their own guy.

Gayle doesn't care enough to have an independent thought on the issue. So if she is saying things publicly it is because people she trusts are expressing concern over Moore. Very likely former players, maybe some current veteran players, and people in her social circle who are Saints fans and expressing the frustrations on behalf of all fans.
She doesn't know football and doesn't care about knowing football. But she does want to please the city and the fans. If people with influence for her are talking...she will listen.

Rights owned by the Steelers and this team can't afford to give up picks
People will roll their eyes at me but I'd strongly consider Sean McDermott

I don't think the short hook is a factor, but if Mickey isn't let go, if I'm a coach I'm questioning why only Moore was held accountable and not the guy largely responsible for the personnel on the field.

There's no need to over react right now because the Saints are not a very good football team today and the prospects for improvement are there, but, rather slim.
The roster is bad. This team won't manage to win many games.
This is a Last Place Team from last season. Let's see whether they can improve at all - like, say, to Second to Last Place in the NFC South.
Take it step by step. One day at a time.
It's good that reality has set in now. The irrational exuberance that we experienced earlier in the season has expired and this is not a bad thing.
I agree that firing Moore after 1.5 to 2 seasons is going to hurt the NOLA NFL franchise in the long run, but, this franchise has made its fair share of bad decisions in the past and there's reason to believe will do so again.

Agree with this take. Everyone around the league knew that this was a rebuilding roster job, and is most likely why many potential coaches were not interested. So, if you go out and ONLY fire Moore while in the middle of the rebuild, it will be looked down on by rising candidates, and you will have to latch on to desperate people with no other opportunities.
But if you make major changes in the front office, including at the GM/player personnel positions, and the new guy decides to move on from Moore; then that will be looked at the new team just wanting to work with their guy and may not have such a negative impact on future coach searches

There are 32 nfl jobs. If you become a head coach you essentially have a job for life in the league.

Solid points. I’d add from a cap perspective we’re a lot cleaner than we were when Moore took the job.
Actually revamped front office, Shough not being ruined this year, high draft pick, improving situation cap wise starts to look more attractive than where we were.
