re: Titans getting new $2.2B stadium. We still gonna go with more bandaids on the Superdome?

But carry on with your ignorance.
How much does the Federal government grift off of oil from the Louisiana coast? I am sure it is much less than what the Feds send back... right?

I never want to see the Saints leave the Superdome.
Its a work of architectural art by this point and is arguably the most important and historic stadium currently in use in the United States.

THe Dome was rebuilt in 2005 wasn't it? So it only 17 years old?

There are a few stadiums that are iconic. Wrigley Field, Lambeau Field, Fenway Park, and The Superdome. You don't replace those and I don't understand what the fascination is with a new stadium. It is not needed.

New Orleans is lucky to still have major professional sports. The Superdome is fine and should be appreciated for such a small market and shite economy.

Seriously? You're kidding yourself.
The Superdome was built in 1975. It's Dome brethren:
the Astrodome (opened in 1965, Oilers left in 1996, today it just sits there looking like shite)
the Kingdome (opened in 1972, Seahawks left in 1999, demolished in 2000)
the Pontiac Silverdome (opened in 1975, Lions left in 2001, closed in 2013, demolished in 2017)
the Metrodome (opened in 1982, Vikings left in 2013, demolished in 2014)
the RCA Dome (built in 1982, Colts left in 2007, demolished in 2008)
and finally the Georgia Dome (opened in 1992, Falcons left in 2016, demolished in 2017).
I know none of you want to believe it, but the Superdome is not iconic. It looks old as frick. When they show the outside on TV, it looks old as frick.
If we added up how much the state has put into rehab on the poor thing and dogeared the $$ for something new, we might be somewhere in tandem with what all these other cities did or are doing.
Instead we have to just wait for what we all know is coming. Gayle (or whomever her successor is) is going to ask for a new stadium at some point. St Louis, San Antonio, San Diego all gonna be standing there with fistfuls of cash.
We're gonna be like "But remember what we did in 2022. With the new windows? Remember?!"

The houses on St. Charles Avenue are also old as frick, but they are kept up and appreciated for their charm and history.
The same thing has happened with the dome. Besides the statues and street names, the city takes pride in its history.
When I attended the FSU game, I was once again reminded how amazing it is to have a stadium near everything.

The location is prime. Blow up the dome, build a brand new retractable stadium and you can even still call it the Superdome if you want.
I just feel like we're watching a very slow car crash. We all know the ask is coming. Maybe not now, maybe in 10 years, etc. But we gonna be able to answer the call? I don't think the NFL is gonna tell another Benson they can't move or sell the team this time.

No they won't. San Diego and St. Louis aren't paying the relocation fee and they aren't dropping what would probably be 3.5 billion on a new stadium. With LA and Vegas off the table, there are not many real threats (not counting Europe).

Can't replace the Superdome in that exact location. Its too small of a footprint if you want to make it a world class stadium. NOLA East/ Slidell would be the best option but I'd rather it stay downtown. It's the one thing that none of these other new stadiums can offer. Proximity to hotels, downtown, major entertainment area is second to none.

I know you aren't a bright one on every board, but the Arena was built on the cheap before we had a team, and now it is incredibly outdated and really cannot be renovated to make it competitive with other Arenas. It is that bad.
The Pelicans will get a new Arena in the next decade. Its already heavily into talks.

They could if they move the Pels arena by the River as talked about and use that entire footprint. The problem is that the Saints would have to play in BR for at least 3 years and that is not ideal at all.

I started this as a joke but do you really think that we couldn't have done something with the 15.2 billion dollars that your boy Joe has sent them? Maybe help people in need of medicine, food, get some of the homeless off the streets or hell build half of the NFL new stadiums that money can be made off of, instead of bombs that aren't accomplishing anything
I didn't know he took money out of the "NFL stadium building fund" to provide weapons to Ukraine. I learned something new today!
This is why I come to the ST board, to be educated.

A New One? I don't ever want to see The Saints playing in another home stadium.
There are a lot of things that desperately need to change in New Orleans, but one of the most famous stadiums in the world isn't one of them.
ETA: I mean Jesus. 10 super bowls, 6 final fours, Ali Vs Spinks, No Mas 1 & 2. That stadium is historic
