Naw, we’re a Carr injury away from being 4-2, sitting at 3-3. Dogshit would be 2-4/1-5/0-6.

This kind of quibbling over semantics is pretty funny. The Saints have 3 wins over 3 bad teams, only 1 of which (NE) did they look very good. And yea it’s better to win than to play well and lose but 5 games of poor offense is not very encouraging. As far as the Carr injury away from 4-2, they were up 17-0, his injury did not cause the D to completely collapse in the 4th Q. They could still make the playoffs because the division is so bad, but what other than blind homerism is there to look forward to the year or 2 after?

What happened to once Brees is gone in 2 years we would be out of cap hell???? What a joke. Mediocre team with bad spending habits. Time for a major overhaul from the top down. But we all know that's a dream!

Take Mathieu (since you brought him up). We cut him for 2024 and it's a savigns of only $1.7M.

We make that a post-June 1 cut, and we save $9M.

The difference is pushed to the 2025 cap.

We are already projected $2M over the 2025 cap

This move would put us over $10M over the 2025 cap.

Right. I said 2 years. They could be in pretty good position going into 2026 if they really wanted too.

Dont watch then pussy. I’ll enjoy my Saints games, and the way this season plays out will be interesting to me because I like football numbnuts. I am very much looking forward to it, beat Jacksonville and we’re 4-3.

Liking your favorite team is blind homerism to you? Gtfoh

Should have made that decision before committing to Carr though. Could have identified younger players to build around and trade veterans.

That’s why a lot of us were strongly against signing him in the first place. It was pretty obvious what was happening. Loomis didn’t have stomach or patience to get right for a couple years and truly restock. Just keeps putting bigger and bigger bandaids on the franchise trying to eke out a poor man’s version of the glory years.

Does "dead money" penalties somehow allow Gayle Benson to spend less?

If anything it forces her to spend more in a given year. Teams have to spend a certain percentage of their cap in cash each year. So when they have these large dead money amounts sitting on the books, it could force them to give sizeable bonuses in that same year, which would kick the cap can down the road for those particular contracts.

The double-edged side of that is when you give someone a large bonus in year 1 to be spread in years 1-5, you have then now created more of a cap hit in those future years without spending cash. So, now you need to give someone else a bonus....

I believe last year we were in a far worse spot without even having any signed qb's on roster.

I just don't think people understand how long it will take to unwind this. It will take a full year of being committed to a rebuild just to get us in a situation where we can start the cap rebuild. That's 2 years, min, but likely more like 3 (or 4 to totally clear up our cap situation).

We were always going to have to rebuild by kicking the can down the road with Brees, and a rebuild is going to take 3 years, so curious, does this really matter?

Put your money where your mouth is then bud.

If we are good for the next 2 years then self ban.

If we suck you can brag and say you were right. Since that seems to be the objective for you idiots.

The reality is none of you have a clue what will happen in the future.

Armchair GM’s - you all need to stfu.

You sure do make a lot of demands for some anonymous message board poster who has been here for a minute.

I think I’ll keep on keeping on and post whatever I’d like on a message board little fella.

So you agree that you cant predict the future, good. Not so sure about your predictions are you bud?

Next step is learning how to stfu and watch football.

I’ll watch hoping we win, you’ll watch hoping your prediction that we will suck comes true. Or maybe you wont watch, but will still come on this board to proclaim shite, armchair GM style.

The problem is that we can't do that with everyone. A lot of the guys with cap problems will have to have the can kicked into 26 and 27.

Apparently your favorite team is a strawman

Yours is a childish response. I was a little kid in the Superdome when the 0-26 Tampa Bay Buccaneers mopped the floor with the Saints for their first franchise win on their way to not just the playoffs but the NFCCG just 2 years later. I will always watch and you can GTFO

The blind homerism is thinking every move the team makes must be celebrated and defended.

I would rather blow it up and suck vs keep kicking the can down the road every year to suck.

Should've started that process this past off-season. Most here agreed with the FO that we should keep kicking the can down the road, in order to chase the NFC title because the division was so bad.

I thought it then, and damn sure think now, that was a terrible idea. Now here we are. You got your wish Saints Talk.

Atleast you have the balls to stand by your convictions, no matter how wrong they are. You were glad we kicked the can down the road again, celebrated signing Carr to a big deal, told everyone who didn't agree they were wrong and didn't know football.

The only difference between you and half the board, is you still have the balls to stand by those terrible takes.

The rest of them realize they were wrong and are now pretending they were never onboard for signing Carr or kicking the can down the road to chase the NFC South title. They realize those were bad decisions and so they have changed their tune, without owning up to it. Good for you.
