I'm not keeping Mathieu around after this year.

Especially at those numbers.

He is basically a box/nickel safety now that avoids contact.

It's still crazy that we let Marcus Williams walk.

No

Yall say this every yr.

It would take a year or two at most to get the Cao right.

Their approach of adding dummy years for no reason is aggravating.

Even when they had money this ur they still backlogged and added dummy years to contracts

Like why not just spread shepherd's hits out evenly.

fuse...Ram's knee is that variable potentially. Our entire cap restructuring philosophy is based in extending he and Lattimore for the bulk of our cap relief, but if he has to retire after this season, then we have to eat all that cap we kicked down the road and we lose the flexibility. That would be official "hold onto your butts" season.

You just seem to embellish shite. His knee has been bad fo3 years. He isn't going to retire after this year.

I do agree it's not a great situation when he has a cap hit in the 30s with a Nad knee.

I was giving an example. If he has to retire in the next 3 years, it could blow everything up if we don't start addressing this yesterday.

Mathematically, this just isn't possible.

We have to extend a lot of the guys with negative equities just to get under the cap. We can cut a few post-June 1, but then 2025/2025 have to deal with (1) the pro-rated acceleration from the post-June 1 cut and (2) the renegotiation pushing cap down the road.

Take Mathieu (since you brought him up). We cut him for 2024 and it's a savigns of only $1.7M.

We make that a post-June 1 cut, and we save $9M.

The difference is pushed to the 2025 cap.

We are already projected $2M over the 2025 cap

This move would put us over $10M over the 2025 cap.

Lol. Who is going to fire them?

If they knew what needed to be done and explained that to Gayle benson, what do you think she would say ?

This is all they know & have known for almost two decades. They thought they were competitors, and every big move they have made backs that up.

I just don't see him retiring but point taken.

They back themselves into a corner when they don't even need too.

The philosophy isn't going to change. They even do it on a shitty 12 mil foster moreau contract

The larger point was the one made before the retirement one. A HUGE portion of our cleared cap the past few years have been blowing up the Ram/Latt deals every year. If Ram retires even a year prior to their expectations, we get double fricked b/c we can't kick the can down the road AND have to eat all the can kicking from the past.

Same shite with Cam Jordan, Lattimore, etc.

When (not if) we restructure Carr this offseason, we basically seal our fate as doomed.

Naw, we’re a Carr injury away from being 4-2, sitting at 3-3.

Dogshit would be 2-4/1-5/0-6.

Jesus talk about carrying your own thread by posting.

Couch GM going on 5 years now. Never made a penny for it or been correct about anything. Captain cap clown blah blah shut the frick upppp already.

Broken fricking record.

Does "dead money" penalties somehow allow Gayle Benson to spend less? We cut players that we don't have to contractually pay real money and she can't be scrutinized for not spending up to the Cap Limit.

I truly believe that is why we are always in this situation.

starting stripping this roster down for assets. We should not have kicked the can so many times after drew retired. we need a full on rebuild

I don’t think so. Even if it does, she spends a boatload on guarantees and bonuses, probably more than any owner in the league.

Cam Jordan: $23.3M / $36.3M
Michael Thomas: $10.0M / $18.2M
Lattimore: $25.6M / $31.3M
Ramczyk: $27.0M / $32.7M
Carr: $35.7M / $52.8M
Hill: $15.8M / $16.9M

You could make the case that only one of those guys is worth keeping if not for being upside down.

quote:

Kamara: $18.9M / $17.2M
Davis: $18.2M / $17.2M
Maye: $9.9M / $8.5M
J. Johnson: $7.0M / $6.5M
Mathieu: $12.1M / $10.4M
C. Granderson: $12.5M / 10.1M

Davis and Graderson are worth their contract. The others are not but given that they do provide some production, they are pretty much uncuttable given their cap situation.
