If it had to be one or the other: trade up for Cam Ward, or draft Dart at 9?

Underhill suggested on his pod that, in theory, the Saints could trade two 1sts, two 3rds, and Olave for a shot at Cam Ward, presumably at #1 or maybe #2. If you had to pick one, would you make that deal, or spend pick 9 on Jaxson Dart?

I think I'd prefer Dart if these were my two options. Just don't believe in Cam Ward enough to give up that haul. But I also hate how Dart spells his first name. It's a real Sophie's choice.

Trade and getting off Olave before he starts wanting to be overpaid is a plus

In that scenario I'd take Dart. That's alot of draft capital to give up for someone who isn't seen as a "surefire" franchise QB.

If I had to do one or the other of those two scenarios, I'd take Dart.

Ward. I’m in on throwing a godfather package for him. This team is going nowhere and our front office can’t draft for shite anyways. Roll the dice on hitting on him because if he hits we are in the mix again.

Trade down to later in the first and draft our Jaxson at 17-21 or something. Pick up a free 2nd rounder. If Jaxson gets picked before us that means a S or DE has fallen - just take that lad and enjoy the free 2nd rounder

Don't want another Ricky Williams situation. If those are the options go with Dart.

Thats a tough one.

That's a lot to give up to move up (even though it's a fair price). You not going to have many picks to build around Ward till likely '27 (unless you start trading the future pick to get back into the draft in 25 & 26 - Not a good idea.)

However I feel like Dart is a major reach at #9. I'd like him much better in the 2nd.

Having said all that I'd probably trade up to get Ward and give up the picks for a shot at a better talent and higher probability of success. Losing the picks hurts but '26 and especially '27 the Saints will be in a better place to sign FA's.

It would be a defining moment for the Moore era regardless

As a side note, Pittsburg now having lost both Fields and Wilson has only Mason Rudolph and Skyler Thomas on the roster as QB's. I know Rogers is still out there but this could be a chance to the Saints to pitch Carr to Pittsburg. If they're seriously looking at Rogers then Carr has to be of interest to them if available IMO.

Dart and it is simply because of the lost draft capital. Saints aren't 1 player away from contending.

This is 100% a Saints type move.

Trade up for a prospect that would have been the 4th to 7th best QB last year.

Should have done it last year and traded Carr, Olave, last years 1st and more for Drake Maye.

Ward.
Dart seems a waste in top ten.

Or highlights.

Ward’s arm talent is real. From the throw angles, throw speed, zip, and touch.

Edited to add clip - watch it:

It’s just pure arrogance from Loomis thinking he’s got a 10 win roster again this season and Moore is a younger smarter Sean Payton.

He has a 4-6 win roster and will be well positioned (even better if he trades down) to draft a better QB than Ward in 26. Just more of the same from Loomis.

Moving up for Ward or Dart at 9 would be his final failure and define his legacy.

Draft Dart at 9.

I am tired of giving up future 1sts.

The last time some stupid team traded from 10 to 1 to take a QB, they ended up giving up a franchise QB the following year.

Better lose a lot of games this year then. This idea of waiting till next year is gambling on a complete unknown of where you will be drafting. You take the sure fire thing rather than the unknown.
