And all of those great picks are gonna rot if we don't have a Qb to lead them when Brees is gone

Those are all trade ups minus Ramcyck. I said the Saints haven't traded down in 11 years.

Perfect post.

Look at Denver.

Having a great team doesn't mean shite if you don't have a good QB.

Philly is lucky that the only QB's in the playoffs this year worth anything played each other, and the other lost on a fluke play.

We really need another pass rusher and some offensive line depth.

Giving up that much when you have Drew on the roster is stupid. If he falls to us fine, but we need to add pieces that can help us win now.

This, this this.

I like Mayfield and wish we could get him, but it would just cost too many picks.

If we were just coming off another 7-5 season, sure. But this year changed things, showing that the Brees window is still open. I think the best thing to do is go all-in to have two more shots at deep playoff runs.

This is a time where your draft was literally amazing and all time worthy.

It'd be dumb to draft a qb when you have a hof'er still playing elite. You double down and win it all with him, f the future.

The Chiefs also have Alex Smith, not Drew Brees.

It's going to cost way too much to move up. He's going at 5 or 6. I'll pass.

Would most likely take this years first, third and next years second along with a player to move up to pick 4 to draft him.

Offer our 3rd and 6th to the Browns for their #4 pick. Hell, they may do it

If baker gets to the 15 range, it becomes an interesting scenario for me. Moving up to top 14 even top 10, man, i just don't think i can eat that cost at this time.

You can be a successful team without a QB. You can survive until you get that great one.

Fricking Jacksonville got to the AFC Championship game with fricking Blake Bortles. Minnesota got to the NFC with Case Keenum. Could you imagine if either of those teams had a guy like, say, Alex Smith? They probably would have won or in Minnesota's case been in the game. But Smith isn't a star. He's solid. If you have a great team you don't need to sell out to get a franchise QB.

I'm still hoping for something controversial to come out about him and he drops to us

Payton is a former QB, he likes to talk to all of the QBs every year and has done so every year he has ben here. Just because he likes someone does not mean we are going to actively go after that person.

If we could give up the 27 and a first and third from next year, I think it's a no brainer.

It's extremely unlikely that the saints will regress greatly after this year given how young the team is. We most likely finish in the top 15. (That's being generous). I think we finish in the top 8. Our 1st and 3rd round picks next season aren't going to have high value. They'll essentually be 2nd and 4th round picks. (Like they are this year.)

Mayfield looks like the truth. Peyton knows how to pick QBs. If he thinks he's the one to go after, then I'm all with him. Based off his college play, I dont think anyone can argue that he wouldnt fit in our offense perfectly. Whether or not he's a bust is a completely different story.

We got Kamara in the 3rd round.. I have confidence we can find great Defensive talent in the 3rd round...maybe...a pass rusher!? Lol

Can someone elaborate? Brees messed up Grayson?

Brees is unusually intelligent even as quarterbacks go. He actually went to Purdue because of the field of study that was being offered rather than Kentucky. He understands detail better than most and likes to hit you with it. I saw a video one time of him and Payton together going over the game plan and offensive strategy which included all types of audible contingencies and understanding placement in formations.....it was mind blowing almost like a foreign language that only Payton, Brees and Carmichael understand

A large part of what we do depends on what we do in FA. Let's say we add a serviceable DE, LB, WR and TE in FA as well as add some backup depth at OL and DB.

Do you take the chance then?

I'm a Baker fan. If we can get him without mortgaging our entire future, I would at least consider it.

Depending on what we do in free agency.. we really won’t have many or any holes to fill in the draft.

If we sign Kelemente.. OL is done. Maybe a late pick.
If we sign Okafor DL is mostly done, could draft a pass rush specialist.

With Anzalone and Klein healthy we don’t need anyone but could draft a LB that’s a difference maker

With Breaux possibly healthy we are good at corner.

If we don’t sign Vaccaro we could draft a safety in mid rounds.

If we cut Fleener we could look at drafting a TE early

We don’t need a RB.

We could look to add a slot receiver

I say all this to point out that depending on what we do in free agency to address any of these needs, we really won’t need to have a huge draft to repeat our success this year. And drafting Mayfield provides the potential for a decades worth of success with all of this young talent
