I thought DA COULD be successful here. But his first big mistake was hiring Pete after (I assume) he lost out on some of the other guys he wanted. His tenure as our coach will be determined by how long he keeps Pete around. Jameis too for that matter.

He brought in some pretty shitty names. I don't think he missed out on them as much as he just stuck with pete

I think pete is getting shite on a little too much

If jameis connects on his throws to olave, nobody is saying a word

I would've loved to bring in a young guy with new ideas or even pair that guy with pete

Point is i think pete will be ok if jameis plays better. Jameis played horribly.

A "player's coach" aka sloppy, undisciplined & a lack of attention to detail.

What's the Saints rank so far here in 2022 in terms of penalties? What's the team's rank in turnovers specifically fumbles? I remember Payton being a stickler about not turning the ball over especially fumbles. He would force players to do extra ball protection drills after a game where a player coughed it up.

I think they are last in turnover margin.

Yep, he was a terrible hire, as I said when it happened.

For whatever reason, some guys just don’t get it. He’s a great DC, bad HC, like many other in the NFL and CFB.

Why can’t they just accept as much?

Coaches at at that level are often sociopathic narcissists. It's what it takes to grind like they do amongst a sea of sociopathic narcissists.

I agree with this, but I still disagree with Les that we had a shot with McDaniel. Or Daboll. They both went to hand-picked teams.

I'd take Frank Reich in a heartbeat, though, although I don't know if he's come to another team with no clear QB plan.

I would also. Much like I wanted Pederson. Get me a veteran coach who has led a team to the post season to right this ship.

I thought it was a lazy hire at the time but wanted to give him a chance as he's a good DC and maybe he had learned lessons since Oakland.

Turns out he is just not Head Coach material.

Cut bait, now.

They won't make a move to fire Allen until it becomes clear what, if any, compensation they will get if Payton returns to coach. Have to hope that San Diego or Arizona makes a move to fire their coach before the end of the season to help out with timing.

If you could pair Reich with a high draft pick and let him have input on who the QB would be, that's an appetizing situation.
