McNamaras trade idea was Brown, Boucher, Indy 2026 1st round pick. id prefer that. but RJ would be fine. he won't hurt our tanking process

That makes the most sense as the base of the trade. Drops us under the tax and gives us a first. We could also potentially route Brown or Boucher to a playoff team for more picks.

I wouldn't mind the deal. But I want Dick or Agbaji, as a future piece. What if we include Hawkins (I don't trust his back and don't love his frame) and they throw in one of those guys?

I’m not trading BI for 1 first round pick and expirings, especially to a team that got back one of those expirings and 3 first round picks just last year in the same exact scenario.
frick that.

Well either you resign him or let him walk….you aren’t getting much better for Ingram.

I feel like this is the leak from Griff to spur the market more than a serious destination. If he rejected Utah why would BI resign in Toronto? The only reason I can imagine is that reality is starting to sink in with Ingram that he won't get paid as much as he wants and may Toronto is willing to come close?

I’ve told you already. There is no let him walk. We can do a S&T in the offseason and get just a 1st easily.

And I’d rather resign him and trade CJ for nothing than “let him walk” for 1 first.

I would be livid if we traded him for 1 1st right now.

You're trying to mend the wrong side of the bridge.

I'm rethinking this too. If Toronto did this and gave Ingram around 40M/year on a new deal, they'd be in big trouble salary wise. Just their starting 5 (Quickley, Barrett, Ingram, Barnes and Poeltl) would combine for about 160M. There is no way they wouldn't be way into the tax. It's a solid core, but not worth spending that much..

What bridge do the Pelicans need to mend? Enabling him? Treating him with kid gloves during ALL the injury woes? Help me out here.

[u]I’ve wanted him for a while now because he is a solid big on a reasonable contract.[/

Absolutely.

Why would we want to purposely put ourselves into the tax next year by facilitating a sign and trade? And also, why would another team give up anything of value in that deal. You would only be taking back a bad contract that would count against our cap.

We are trying to shed salary for next year. If we think our potential future lineup is already on the team outside of BI and CJ, then why handcuff yourself with more unwanted salary?

Remember that random interview with Z and Ingram where Z said Dallas was his favorite road city and Ingram said Toronto?

I don’t think Ingram would mind going up there.

Yeah Toronto is not Utah lmao. A lot more appealing. I’m sure masai can talk Brandon into staying especially if they did keep RJ and paired Ingram with Barnes

I didn't, thanks. That does change how this looks, it may not just be smoke.

Ingram: Miami and LA, Toronto

If you don’t dish bi, he signs a 1 year 26 guaranteed next summer to the Lakers or knicks. Just my guess.

Unfortunately no more moves get made. Maybe look like a dumbass with a couple 2nd round picks and cash for McCollum.

Ingram has his issues, and he gives the aura of always being high, but I don't think that he's a proper idiot. Given his injury history, that would be an insanely stupid move on his part. The only way it makes sense is if he's torn between being happy in the NBA vs retiring. That's possible (especially considering that he had serious health issues early in his career, so everything since then has been lagniappe), but I'd be shocked if he want that direction.

At this point, trading BI or CJ isn't about the direct return, it's about losing more games this season and getting under the tax. Though the tax may not be an issue anymore with Murray missing these extra games. If it still is an issue, I'd assume that much smaller moves can be made in lieu of trading BI/CJ.

Exactly the best asset we’re ever gonna get from a BI and/or CJ deal is our current pick.

Never read any legitimate options on this board to let Zion walk. Otherwise the pelicans could have signed Ingram to a front heavy 3 year, what he’s worth. That’s off the table in my opinion
