New Orleans Pelicans have seemed to make an unforced error. They signed DeAndre Jordan to multiple years. They are unable to apply the 10-year veteran minimum subsidy. This is where they would be responsible $2,449,421 on the cap sheet and the NBA would bring Jordans salary up to $3.9M. Since this is only eligible on 1-year deals New Orleans is on the hook for the entire salary for both years.

The Dumars tenure

The good

Drafting Fears
Signing McGowens
Signing Jordan last year

The bad:

The Queen trade
The Poole trade (yes even though we got Bey)
This Jordan contract
The Willie Green fiasco
The Hawkins option being picked up
Jose trade
Not leaning into a full rebuild

We are basically worse than the Kings under his leadership and it's only been 14-15 months.

A team like the Pels can't afford 1-2 mistakes much less the amount that has piled up already.

Baffling is the right word.

I get it from Dumars, he hasn't been an executive in the league since the Bush Administration, but Weaver is a very seasoned vet in recent history

We are a total clownshow

We are out Sacramento King-ing the Kings

Not my money so I don't really give a shite. Let's not pretend like we were going to use it to sign anyone else.

They punted this offseason. Any big move they would have made had to be a trade anyways.

Gayle has to be concerned if her executive is costing her unnecessary millions. Clown show

that's not the point.

This is the second embarrassingly stupid thing Dumars has done.
It's becoming increasingly obvious he should not be a GM in the NBA, but i guess who gives a shite b/c our owner shouldn't be an owner either.

"The bad:"

The Queen trade- Wasn't Bad.
The Poole trade (yes even though we got Bey)- Yeah that's not how that works, you are just blatantly refusing to give credit here.
The Willie Green fiasco- Started before Dumars and may have been over his head.
The Hawkins option being picked up- TBD, if its for a trade then its not bad.
Jose trade- Undrafted with 0 impact here that gave us 2 2nds. Denial on this one.

So the only truly "bad" things Dumars has done since being here is:

1. Not leaning into a full rebuild
2. This Jordan contract
3. Original Pacers trade

Pacers trade is what it is.

if we add other assets or plan to trade Poole/ Hawk then that extra $2mil cost is absolutely meaningless for DJ.

If there's a make or break rebuild plan then cool, clearly that's the biggest concern.

I'll get attacked for this but DJ @ $4mil is worth more to us than Jose @ $5mil. Jose isn't teaching Murray/ Fears shite because they are way better than him. DJ can atleast help develop Queen/ Missi.

The Queen trade was objectively bad.

Queen the player can turn out to be good.

I see people excusing or minimizing this because it’s not a lot of money, but the money is not the issue

You are allowed to have variance of opinion when building your roster and executing your vision - this is not that. This is fricking up the simple, mathematical, no-brainer stuff. The details are everything.

Pissing away millions of dollars is not the sign of a competent organization.

It took Twitter reporters a matter of hours to spot this mistake. I shudder to think the problems being caused behind the scenes at far more complex levels of team management.

Its crazy that people actually think this way. "The trade was bad but the player ended up winning 10 championships so it wasn't the worst"

Queen is putting up Triple dubs/ 30-20 games and the other 2 players have not done shite.

On top of that, Queen has been ranked anywhere from #5-#10 on a redraft for a record breaking rookie class...

The dude is #6 in some redrafts and we traded #23/ #8???

Y'all might be the most dishonest group of people on this site and that's saying alot considering other boards..

I'm minimizing it because I really don't give a shite. If Gayle is so worried about a 2 mil subsidy, we're really fricked like when Shinn was the owner.

There's a million different things you can be pissed off about with this organization. This is just a long line of shite you choose to be pissed off about. I choose to be pissed off about the run back. I can't give two fricks about some pocket change for Gayle.
