Where did you see this?

Someone on Pels Twitter was talking about it and said Marc Stein reported it. I haven’t seen anything from Stein in a tweet, so it’s probably on his Substack, but if it came from Stein it’s legit. (Edit: Confirmed above)

Either way, this contract really doesn’t matter in a vacuum, you can look at it as just an overpaid assistant coach that can play sometimes as needed, which is likely what the team views it as.

It's weird how people pile on Dumars yet were forgiving with Griffin for years who was faaaar worse. How many draft picks does we give away to fix bad signings and trades? How many head coaches? Wasted AD trade, etc....?

So he is on a multiple year contract?

Was he worth giving money to playing zero important minutes? Would his roster spot be better served by trying a rookie?

You guys are stuck on a extra year deal because he probably preferred one year deals elsewhere and are bitching about a couple mil extra to keep a good teammate here.

Just stop

Lots of folks dont want it to be true to fit their narrative.

lol now it’s no way to know if it’s true. If it’s something negative then it’s obviously true. I’m supposed to think Dumars who worked in the fricking league office doesn’t know the rules

Smart fans would appreciate the front office's commitment to locker room culture and leadership. Dumb fans don't. THE END.

How old is this guy again? Probably could have gotten a better deal for Chris Paul or Rajon Rondo if we needed a mentor.

One has to question whether the @PelicansNBA hired the Joe Dumars that built Detroit into an NBA champion or the Joe Dumars that allowed the Pistons to fall back into the lottery. After a year on the job, Dumars & Weaver have been reckless, impatient & made mistakes that have paralyzed the franchise's cap flexibility & squandered draft capital. Now to improve this year's version of the @PelicansNBA they are only left with the trade market to upgrade the roster. Based on their track record in New Orleans.. It is akin to a drunk tugboat captain trying to traverse the currents of the Mississippi River.

Hey boot krewe bro, I know that when Windhorst, someone who doesnt know dick about shite, says something to fit your narrative so you can bitch about it for an hour and a half Pels pod in the middle of the offseason you want it to be true, but I dont trust anyone that hasn't seen his own dick in 20 years.

It was confirmed he had another offer, one year vet deal, by another team. Supposedly it was a better team. To keep him, we offered the 2nd year. That's why he resigned with us.

Oh no boote krewe pod dont ignore this!!!!

So we were fighting for a 37 year old player. LMAO. You could have gotten a better deal for CP3 or Rondo if you were looking to sign a mentor.

Yea. It wasted the owner 3 million dollars because Joe was doing it that way. Either that or using Chat GPT wrong.

We were fighting for a player coach that can have a large impact on (2) of our important pieces that just so happen to play the most important position in modern basketball.

We "wasted" $3mil space that would otherwise end up #15 without playing time or just cap space.

Are we now upset that Gayle pays extra money for assets instead of keeping the $3mil change?

Of course there are only (2) narratives. Gayle is cheap or incompetent. Making a decision that's best for player development is not an option bevause its a positive spin.
