30pts? That’s good defense!!

- Alvin Gentry

...Also remember when we would come out in second half’s, play sloppy and get gutted all over again? 19 points allowed in the third and our best defensive quarter. Almost like we might also have a coach that can adjust in game besides just chaotically shuffling through 85 lineups a night

ingram played a ton of minutes with the 2’s
I wonder if that’s just due to missing two guys or if that’s something they will try

No, definitely one of the few trouble spots IMO. On the plus side he kept the turnovers down and seemed to settle in solidly on defense as the game went on(and some bad lapses early on).

We did surprisingly well in that stretch in the 2nd quarter when Ingram was the only starter on the floor, and he was out there with NAW, Melli, Hayes, and Thornwell. That meant that Melli and Thornwell led the team in +/- tonight.

Big fan of staggering BI and Zion’s minutes.

SVG on staggering BI and Zion - we'd like to have one of them on the floor at all times but that also means they spend less time together. Said adding Bledsoe and JJ will change things.

I like that philosophy. With either Zion or BI on the floor at all times, there's always going to be an offensive flow.

The first stretch with BI and the 2's played pretty well, one game very small sample but I liked the flow of the rotations we saw tonight.

Stan mentioned in his interview that ideally one of Zion or BI should be on the court at all times. He said, it won’t always work out that way, and if there are instances that at least one of them isn’t on the court, the offense will probably go through the guys who were out (JJ and Bled).

ETA: I should’ve kept reading the thread

Well without JJ playing someone had to shoot the threes. He didn't do awful, but don't expect him to shoot that much.

Good first outing. Zion wears people out over the course of a game. Great to seeing him with his front to the basket attacking. BI playing a floor game on offense and a battering ram in Zion are problems.

Watching Jazz-Suns.

Favors is out there playing PF again with Gobert on the court with him, chasing smaller guys around the perimeter and celebrating on the bench.

I'm convinced dude never wanted to be here.

3-6 inside the 3 point line. I'm more interested in his scoring inside the 3 point line and she showed me some optimism there tonight.

I agree, and it should be noted one of those misses inside was immediately rebounded by Lonzo and he scored. Another was in the flow of the offense so it ended up a quintessential Kobe pass and Adams got an easy put back attempt. Would like to see him translate some of his threes into drives to the basket or extra passes though...And totally eliminate the dribble threes.

Still has too much Curry instincts in him and he’s not Curry. At least a couple times it looked like he had caught the D off guard and could of drove or moved the ball again but took the three instead. And at least twice he still did the patented dribble and take a three without moving the ball, early in the shot clock crap. One rattled in during the third but it still isn’t the shot you want and expect SVG to not be happy(unlike Gentry which would be cheering that shite on)

Watching through all the shots again on NBA.com and it feels like 4-5 small decision changes and he goes 7-13 with a few fewer three attempts and a couple more interior drives and likely adds an extra assist and a hockey assist.

Favors was really out of place at center anyway. But no he didn't want to be here.
