Pels trade hawk Peavy and 2 2nds for Taj Gibson and AJ Johnson

And AJ Johnson. Gibson will be cut. I'm not sure if Johnson would stay on the roster.

They were too close to spending money on the team, so they gave away assets to save the cheap arse owner money.

Picking up Hawkins costs us Peavy, a second and a second swap. Absolutely fireable decision. No excuse for it.

I don't hate this move at all under the circumstances
Peavy wasn't going to play and I think this opens up Caleb Houstan to make the roster
Hawk should have never been picked up but you get a guy in AJ Johnson for the bench or maybe you can flip him for a cheap big...saves $5m with cutting Gibson...can still sign someone like Drew Eubanks or hopefully trade Poole for a big

I wasn’t expecting a ton from Peavy but this team makes no effort to develop its second round picks. None.

Almost everyone. There's a couple of homers out there that couldn't really fathom it
Its a pure salary dump. Picking up his option cost you a young player and 2 seconds.

Let's not pretend that Peavy was that good, or that 2nds matter.
This was best case scenario and not that bad of a salary dump trade at all.
Multiple posters thought we would have to give up much more.

It makes sense why they were loading up on wings. Honestly, we knew this. You ain't dumping Hawkins for free.

I'm fine with it as it frees up 2 spots once they get waived. Open spots for a guy like Bufkin and another big.

That is irrelevant.
If you don't pick up the option of a player everyone said not to pickup the option on, you have those seconds and Peavy to use elsewhere if you need to
