Few years back we offered 4/88 and he went to the mavs for 4/72. Would those said minimum players sign here? You don’t know and I don’t know. Just quit assuming like a move is available for the pelicans to make because it’s easy to assume.

Where did I say we shouldn’t care about 2nds the point is it’s not the end be all. The point is the team won less than 50 games the past 2 years. The fanbase is understandably frustrated. Start the season and go win some games and see who worried about a 2031 2nd rounder.

You replied to me taking exception to a guy saying 2nds don't matter, the only way for me to logically consume your post is to assume you disagreed with my statement.

And this deal is just 1 example of why this team has won less than 50 games the past 2 years.

If you're not furious that we wasted a 2nd round pick, you're not frustrated enough.

It was a gamble. We needed shooting and hoped for improvement. It didn't happen

I agree with those who say it was a bad gamble, but this is all very small potatoes in the grand scheme of things. I get that people are bored right, so they have to get emotional about something, but some of y'all need to go touch grass.

All that being said, it is getting to be time to turn off the negativity, even when it is warranted, and have some hope for the season and approach the team with open eyes.

And when this happens a group of "Pels fans" will shite on every good thing said about the team and cause unnecessary arguments that then turn into a "defense" by default.

I've had more rational conversations and responses to people than probably anyone else on here. I guess lets act like I don't respond to 90% of people rationally because I call people bitches when they are being bitches.

I responded 9 times in this thread with completely rational responses. Here's a few examples of other rational opinions:

Absolutely fireable decision. No excuse for it

There's always a but following "i know this is bad".

And then you laughing at a completely reasonable post about Dumars making good changes while knowing yall would hate the next guy just as much

Telling someone how many roster spots we have = irrational

Outlining a trade package= irrational

Breaking down our camp contracts for someone= irrational

Responding to your question with a full rational response= irrational

Starting out a post with "I get the frustration of trading a 2nd with Hawk, but"= irrational

Blatantly saying "this is bad", "fire dumars", and a laughing emoji at a full parapgraph response to a question YOU asked= rational.

Rational and an a-hole? Sure, I won't argue. Irrational? bullshite.

I'm really struggling to figure out who Memphis keeps on their final roster.

Some interesting cuts coming from that team.

We didn't do anything good today,

Nothing we did today will turn into wins. We lost a 2nd rounder.

The only positive was getting under the tax, and that solely benefits Gayle Benson's bottom line.

The Pels or their fans got nothing tangible today that will help winning, and actually got slightly worse. And this is after the vast majority of folks predicted this the moment we picked up the Hawkins option.

I fail to see what positive news we heard today...

You can be happy with 21 and 26 wins the past 2 seasons, have at it. Good for you!

I choose to not be happy about a failing franchise.

1. Adding an asset with upside (AJ Johnson)
2. Not giving Hawk anymore minutes
3. Gaining leverage in a Poole trade since we aren't strapped at the tax line now.
4. Actually being able to acquire Mathurin

The comment was that there were shooters available last offseason for less than $7 million that could have filled the Hawkins spot. Anyone who follows the NBA would know that. Stop assuming no one would sign for less just because it does not fit your unbridled defense narrative of Dumars/Weaver.

AJ had little to no upside. I think he is on his 5th team already. 2 and 4 are correct. Curious to see if they do anything with Poole.

Would they have signed here? fanbase was upset because of what we had to resign Deandre to a minimum deal. What makes you think they would’ve signed with us.

35% from the field and 24% from 3...not sure there's an argument he has any more upside than Peavy. There is no argument he has more upside then Peavy plus a pick.

We paid that price to get under the tax, not to get AJ Johnson, no one cares about AJ Johnson.

Which, as most Pels fans said the moment we picked up the option, all 3 of these things could have been done a season earlier and without having to give up a draft pick to duck the tax.

This is not positive. This is cleaning up a mess that was unnecessarily created, why do you get points for that?

They must have wanted Peavy for some reason though or the deal could have happened without him. I could see Hawkins potentially being bought out. The most likely scenario is some sort of unbalanced trade to get rid of some of their guaranteed contracts.

I don't know if Peavy's contract is fully guaranteed but I can see a world where they try to cut him and retain him on a two-way.
