Wait Jrue a borderline all star is worth three firsts it some dude who scores 9 a game is worth two? frick all that.

To be fair this sounds like a Cleveland leak where they’ve probably gotten offers of 1 first and are trying to push the price to 2.

Yeah how are some people on here so willing to give up 2 firsts or young players for Larry fricking Nance.

Ainge sat on assets and they’re a mid tier team for the foreseeable future. If we move BI and Zion to their natural positions (2 and 3) we need a defensive wing. I’ve advocated everyone except Zion, Kira, BI, Adams, and yes Hayes being on the table with our assets to build a winner now. Nance is a good fit, build the rest with shooters.

Houston got 2 first for Covington, so you have to believe that is where the market starts.
Covington is a wonderful player but 2 firsts surprised me.
Covington has a rather complete game.
I would have taken in first round as my posting history affirms but 2, nah.
I guess people have no confidence to pick good ones so they want two tries.

Mid tier teams don't go to 3 out of the last 4 ECFs. You're not making a very strong argument. Keeping those assets is a big reason why they still have the Tatum/Brown tandem.

Kyrie had a hand in that
Haywards injury had a hand in that
AD saying Frick Boston had a hand in that
Ainge got stingy no doubt but bad breaks played a major factor

They are not getting by the 76ers, Nets or Bucks now or for the foreseeable future and I’m taking Zion and BI all day over Tatum and Brown. Use your assets strategically.

Cool let other teams do that.
Nance is a good player but multiple firsts seems like something a team closer to a run would do.
Correct. All I was saying is that is what we should expect the minimum asking price to be. And if it is, than we say no, thank you, and move on.

Ainge wants to win the deal (tactics) instead of putting players in place that build a team. Nice headlines though

How is zion going to play the 3

Nance for two firsts ain’t it.

How late are we talking? Just after the lottery? Or almost a 2nd rounder? I mean, call the picks players taken around late in the draft. Best case and worst case.
Fit and his contract are more relevant than the picks for my taste. And I Don't have much of a strong opinion about him. Like, at all.

Surprising part of this season is that Zion has handles. You move him to the 3 and let him go downhill from the wing. BI is a 3 level scorer and a more natural 2. Zion, BI and hopefully Zo need to get better defensively to get where they want to be. With solid defensive minded 4s and 5s they’re on their way.

A first and expiring contracts may get it done.

give them two of the Laker picks.
Where exactly does Nance get us over the next couple of seasons that make him worth two 1sts?

As I said on the other page:
quote:
And we’ve gone over the stats before, but worth keeping in mind, late firsts can take longer to develop but the hit rate is around 40-50%. So if you know how to draft you can find very meaningful value in the later part of the first. For instance, OG Anonuby, Kyle Kuzma, Jarrett Allen, Derrick White, and Josh Hart were all found in the 20’s in the same draft. The year before that? Malik Beasley, Pascal Siakam, Caris Levert, Dejonte Murray.
Just this year you have Precious Achiuwa, Saddiq Bey, Tyrese Maxey, Immanuel Quickley, Payton Pritchard, and Desmond Bane that all look like solid to very good players found in the later part of the first.
We have a lot of bites at the apple coming up and if you can’t find multiple Larry Nance’s with those picks, Griff should be sent packing.
I don’t see what Nance brings that justifies giving up multiple first rounders, at any point in the draft.

Covington
he was a really good contributor on a good team for a few years. Isn't he an All-Star this season?

lol no. not even close to being an all star. Probably need both rosters out with covid before he’d make an all star game.

I am not saying this is the situation; however, at some point it will come to going and getting the right fit or waiting to the point where we don’t make a move to improve.
