Only useful player they could potentially include in a Lonzo trade that would maybe be helpful this year is Gasol. You could then move Adams.

I'd take back Love if it means we can keep 10, or if we can find a 3rd team where we can trade back and still have a pick in the late teens or something.
maybe something like
Adams and #10 to OKC for 16/18/34
18, 40, Bledsoe, 22 1st, to Cavs for Sexton and Love.
If they demanded we include Kira, i'd add him and ask for the Cavs 2nd they have next year from Houston.
We'd still have #16 to make a pick (hopefully Moody falls like Bey did, and that's trending), and we have 34/35 to combine to move up to say #25 from the Clips or #27 from the Nets. I seriously doubt either of them make that pick.

I haven’t actually watched much of him. I just know he didn’t fit well in certain sets with AD and Harrell.

I know the Clippers don’t….they need to shed salary like crazy, and have to somehow find some help while Leonard is out.

would much rather Schroder than Lonzo. Schroder is a pest on defense. You seeing what Jrue is doing to CP3? I would love to get a guard in here that will pick up full court like Schroder does and disrupt the start of offense. Its' why i'd love to sign TJ McConnel in FA as a backup PG, especially if we go get someone like Sexton and Kira goes out.
I have just as much confidence in Schroder's catch and shoot 3 point shooting as Lonzo. He was 36% this year, 41% last year, and he's a career 83% FT shooter, and actually get to the line.
Schroder's 15/6 he provides on offense is better than Lonzo's, and he's a better defender.
The only way i'd even entertain the idea of it though is if the Lakers actually make the pick at #22, and i liked it a lot and demanded that player in the S&T.
Doing a deal like this means you struck out on draft night making any big deals, and you can set yourself up to go get some shooting to supplement the roster, while you still wait to make your big move.

He’s one of the most disliked teammates in the league. Everyone can’t stand him.

Didn’t he already turn down a max offer by the Lakers. They are stuck having to pay him that. No way is he worth that.

He’s currently a free agent

Yep, he turned down a 4 yr 84 mil extension with the Lakers then disappeared in the Suns series.

Wow, I didnt realize that. I guess the money wasnt guaranteed because there would be no reason for him to turn that down.

He probably didn’t want the Lakers to have trade leverage. They were going to sign him using his Bird Rights, therefore, they could go into the tax with his contact and trade his salary for a more useful player.

Schroeder is fine. He can attack the basket well and he’s got some fight in him. The issue is he’s probably going to be severely overpaid this offseason.
If we do trade Zo to the Lakers, I’d much rather Talen Horton Tucker and maybe Caruso coming back. THT is a young ascending versatile player. When Lebron was out a few games, THT was actually the Lakers closer over hobbled AD or frickboi Kuzma. Caruso is that heady, scrappy backup guard in the same ilk as a TJ Mcconnell. Caruso’s counting stats are likely trash, but as someone that regrettably watched 20-30 Lakers games over the past 2 seasons, he’s been the reason why they won a few of them, including at least 1 against the Pels when he kept ripping Jrue and Lonzo in the backcourt.

He's CJ McCollum --- just 2 inches shorter.

Or, maybe, he just really hates playing with LeBron. I mean, he wouldn't be the first. But yeah, he's not going to get that much on the open market as a UFA. But, if he does end up going that route, the Lakers are still capped out and can only use the MLE to try to replace him (which is why Schroeder has the advantage in negotiations). Unless they trade away Kuzma and Caldwell-Pope to try to open cap space (which would be part of what they would need to do in the crazy ideas proposed for them to trade back for Lonzo).

That’s probably a decent assumption.
BTW, The contract offer he supposedly turned down was 4yr 84 mil. Not a max, but still more than he’s worth.

It’s somewhat of a conspiracy theory assumption lol, but I would assume if they really wanted to sign him he could have pushed for a No Trade Clause in the first year or some kind of 25% kicker.
It is pretty likely though, that he would be the first player on the move to get another all star caliber player to the Lakers if he signed that contract.

I know that, but they can’t add any big money players due to their cap. They are stuck paying him or trying to replace him with a much cheaper option that won’t be as good.
Pretty much how Jrue had the Bucks over the barrel….
