The more i watch sexton, the more i want him.

I wonder what a sexton and nance deal would look like.

MM has been pretty active talking about this Sexton trade, which makes me believe it may have some legs. If it's something that is not true or something that his connect in the FO doesn't think happens he would have dropped it by now. He continues to speak of a possible Sexton to the Nola possible fit.

Are you seriously arguing that Sexton vis just as unselfish as Ball?

No, I'm arguing against your presenting over the top arguments that are severely flawed at best. Saying he doesn't pass at all contradicts the facts. I'm not saying he's Rondo, but Sexton has as many potential assists as Lonzo and Ingram. That's a far cry from "doesn't pass the ball."

Before this thread I was against Sexton because on the surface he does have a lot of red flags. But this thread made me dig a little deeper and he has a particular set of skills that seem to align very closely with skills the Pels have been lacking.

quote:

Sexton is a bench scorer who hasn’t figured that out yet.

I don't think I buy this. Comparing his scoring Per 36 minutes to 2 of the best bench scorers in the last 10 years, he appears to be significantly ahead of them:

Lou Williams
Age 21 Year 3 PP36 17.8 TS% 52.3%
Age 22 Year 4 PP36 19.5 TS% 51.3%

Jordan Clarkson
Age 23 Year 2 PP36 17.3 TS% 51.6%
Age 24 Year 3 PP36 18.1 TS% 52.6%

Collin Sexton
Age 21 Year 2 PP36 22.7 TS% 56%
Age 22 Year 3 PP36 24.9 TS% 57.3%

I'm not saying he's the next Dame or Trae, but he seems to be far enough ahead of elite bench scorers that your argument doesn't hold water.

I'd love to go back to seeing nothing but red flags. But the more I dig the less red I see.

Something that I learned yesterday (from Will Guillory in The Athletic) that makes a Sexton trade a little bit more likely is that he and Zion have the same agent.

I’m not really in favor of it. We already have two ball dominant scorers. We need more playmaking, defense and shooting.

I think he's more of a Brad Beal/CJ McCollum type, but I don't think that's a bad fit for this team at all.

I think a lot of times players having the same agent is overblown.

The perfect guard to trade for is Malcom Brogdon to be honest

Help facilitate a ben simmons to indy and we can get brogdon.

i don't see them moving him at all this offseason now after hearing early reports. maybe at the deadline, but not before the season begins IMHO

brogdon is also pretty old. he's going to be 29 when the season starts, basically.

i'll put it this way. brodgon was a year older, as a rookie, than Sexton will be next year

I want Sexton. I know the faults, but I feel like this is the deal we need.

I know its more likely he goes somewhere else because so many teams will be bidding, but damn, this is a move I want.

Like his fit, but his injury history is a bit of a concern.

What does any of that have to do with the next 3-4 years with the Pelicans?
Doesn't matter who you get, Brogdon, Simmons, Sexton, whoever, you have a timeline with them of 3-4 years, then major decisions have to be made on them, assuming they already haven't been made.

Brogdon and Sexton are two different types of players for us.
Bringing in Sexton is taking a chance that he might be that third banana you need to get you over the hump, a future star.
Brogdon is a role player on this team.

Was there a reason he came into the league so late? I remember him being older, but was it injuries, or did he just develop later into college?

Or he is a role player on a good team like many, many, young players on bad teams have been.

Sexton is a polarizing player, at that’s putting it nicely.

He’s not a good fit next to Zion and Ingram.

If Brogdon, whom the Bucks still regret losing, was available I’d give up any of our guards including Ball.

if he was 19 as a freshman, add 5 years while at UVA and he's 24. he redshirted one year and left as a senior

he graduated from UVA with a masters

defensively, true. he'll be another weak link and cannot anchor. He's CJ McCollum --- just 2 inches shorter.

offensively, he fits what you want in a guard. can get his own shot, can facilitate at times, can attack the rim.

he can shoot and he can be a 3rd ballhandler. i don't get this "not a good fit" meme

he's not a good fit with NAW potentially and certainly Lewis. He'd pair well with Ball
