I like taking care of second rounders if you can even if they don’t make the team. Creates goodwill with agents.

anything linking us to Hood or just board speculation?
Posted on 7/12/18 at 9:33 am to BilJ
Some dude's tweet and the fact that hood seems to like the idea of joining the pels on instagram. That's essentially it for the moment

Anyone interested in getting Aminu and his moonball back?
No speculation or anything, just a thought from me.
People still leave him wide open to shoot 3's and he's not terrible at them anymore, but he's turned out to be a decent starter, especially b/c of his defense.
I doubt Portland wants to let him go, although he is in his final year of his contract, but we could save them some money by only sending them Okafor with Liggins or Diallo for him. Save them $3M in salary, and more than that b/c of the tax.

Aminu might be on the best contract in the nba when you consider effectiveness vs salary
not even a remote chance they dump him

Y'all remember when Dell let Aminu walk and went after Omer Asik the next season? Good times

Aminu is an average nba player.
PER of 12, shot below 40% the last two years

He is. Doesn't mean he wouldn't make us better.
If he didn't play for the Blazers in the playoff series, they would have gotten embarrassed even more. Him and McCollum were the only reason we didn't win by 40 in every game.

He’s an expiring and isn’t even good lol. If they got anything for him why wouldn’t they do it?
7 mil+ a year for Aminu is great value?
Davis Miller per 36:
11.8/3/2.1
On 44%, 41% from three
2 mil a year
Aminu per 36:
11.2/9.1/1.5
On 39% and 37% from three
7 mil a year

They literally left him wide open to shoot, though. Pels let their worst guy take all the open looks, it worked.

I know, and it almost backfired.
I'm not saying he's some savior we need.
I want him more for his defense and rebounding. The fact that he isn't horrible from 3 is a plus.
To me, i'm just looking to add some guys that are on expiring deals that can help contribute, and he's one of them.
Terrance Ross isn't anything great, but i'd like his $10M expiring contract, and assuming he's healthy, his play off of the bench. Same for Jeremy Lin.
And i don't want their expirings for cap space next year, i want them for ease of making a move at the trade deadline.

Now compare them defensively. How about from an athletic ability standpoint?
Aminu would be our starting SF if he were on the team. Solo would be the more accurate comparison. Try and compare their stats and salaries

You’re right if it wasn’t for Aminu we probably would have swept th..... never mind

I’m not at all an Aminu advocate but he did take 30 three pointers against us in 4 games and made 13 of them. And he did shoot somewhere around 37% on the year. That’s not bad at all.
I wouldn’t be completely upset if he was our SF for this season

Just saw that Dwight Howard got signed by the wizards.
Does this have any cap implications that might point to the availability of some of their other players? I know many on here have expressed interests in some of their players so I thought it might be relevant for discussion

They are about 11 mil over the tax. I can't imagine that they want to pay the tax for that team, but I may be wrong. I definitely see them attempting to get off of some salary, but us taking on one of their 3 mil players really isn't going to do them any good. I would think they would want to get off of Smith and Meeks, but not sure what they would pay to do that. I also don't think there is any way that they keep both Oubre and Satoransky next off season as they are already up against the projected tax for next offseason just with their low cap holds.

Per pincus elfrids contract is 3 mil flat and we have a bit of the BAE left

We have $300,000 of the BAE left. Which is far less than the minimum. So, basically, we don't have any of the BAE left
