re: Official 2018 Pelicans Offseason Thread - Crewz
Korver's salary next year isn't fully guaranteed. You could, if you had to, waive and stretch him and he would only count 1.2 mil against your cap next year. ...

re: Yogi Ferrell backs out of deal with Mavs - Crewz
I see what the team likes about Yogi and IT3, but I think they are prioritizing the wrong thing. They love this idea of pace, which they associate to some degree with youth and athleticism, but I still want a steady hand in the backcourt and a guy who can put me in sets when things slow down. I ...

re: Official 2018 Pelicans Offseason Thread - Crewz
If that were the players involved, the Pels wouldn't give the Cavs a 2nd. The Cavs would give the Pels a 2nd. Dell could get Korver for Ajinca right now if he wanted him bad enough. I wish he did, but it sounds like they are prioritizing youth, athleticism, etc. I get that, but Korver for 15-20 ...

re: Was Rondo Really That Good Last Year - Crewz
Thats fair. But West was also less experienced and younger when he started with PJ AD and Jrue are men now. They have been in the league for a while. If they haven't learned what they need to be/do by now, it won't happen. Another year or two of Rondo wouldn't have helped them more. It would have...

re: Cousins:Only me and Dell Demps know what was said on the phone - Crewz
One thing that is very true is that in exit meetings, almost every single player was indifferent when asked if they wanted Boogie back. Not one player had a strong desire for him to return. This caught Dell a little off guard. Then, the coaching staff chimed in and they were even less enthusiastic t...

re: Was Rondo Really That Good Last Year - Crewz
I remember David West often talking about the time he spent with PJ Brown being huge for him. He took those lessons and became a team leader/solid locker room guy. If AD and Jrue can't do it now, they never will be able to. Rondo would have been a crutch, of sorts, if he came back. I think the upsid...

re: Official 2018 Pelicans Offseason Thread - Crewz
They love the way they finished the season and they feel like the best way to get off to a fast start is with continuity. Basically, Payton replaces Rondo and everything else stays the same. But now, you have a better bench than you had last season because you have Randle and a healthy Hill in p...

re: Official 2018 Pelicans Offseason Thread - Crewz
Depends on who the "3" is I think it is so specific to each team. Example - I think Lakers finish games small with something like: Ball, Hart, Ingram, Kuzma, Lebron Can't have our three bigs out there. I probably have Niko on the bench there But against Utah, they finish with Rubio, ...

re: Official 2018 Pelicans Offseason Thread - Crewz
The plan as of today is to bring Randle off the bench. Start Payton-Jrue-Moore-AD-Niko Curious to see if that holds all season. I could see the staff being tempted to use him against high scoring 3's and 4's like Lebron, KD, PG-13, Tobias Harris, etc. The more I look at it, the more I think it...

re: Official 2018 Pelicans Offseason Thread - Crewz
Agree - If Jrue is playoff Jrue, I would say Otto and Middleton would be 1a and 1b on my wish list. If he isn't playoff Jrue, Jimmy Butler would top my list. Barnes over Porter in that scenario too...

Not a bad choice. If he is on the court in that situation. Gentry seems to prefer big guards, but we shall see. I think Payton and Hill will be the first guys he tries...

re: Official 2018 Pelicans Offseason Thread - Crewz
I think the "ideal" small forward also depends on which Jrue we get moving forward. If he is the Jrue we saw in the playoffs, I would prefer slightly slower usage, more defense, rebounding, playmaking, etc. If he is closer to the guy we saw in the regular season (good, but not an elite scorer), I mi...

re: Official 2018 Pelicans Offseason Thread - Crewz
They have between now and Feb of 2020 to get that elusive wing. And they have one chance to get it right, so it needs to be the right guy. I would say they will have the most to offer in Feb of 2020, if they can wait until then. Hill and Moore will be expiring. They would have, in theory, the gu...

re: Most Underrated Need on the Pels right now - Crewz
Thats solid for all three teams. Fair. I think Washington would like it even more if Pels gave them some cash - then they send cash and that Bucks 2nd to some team to take Ajinca. Gets them way under the tax. Trade I proposed for Porter was: Hill, Miller, Liggins to Wizards Porter to P...

re: Official 2018 Pelicans Offseason Thread - Crewz
Rosier is better than Devin Harris. But the opportunity cost on Harris is nil. I just don't move that first rounder unless it gets me a very good wing and/or it gets me off Hill's contract and gets me a solid guy for this year. Like, Hill, Ajinca, and a pick for Demarre and Dinwiddie...

re: Most Underrated Need on the Pels right now - Crewz
I think people are still negating the difference between good and elite. And 80% shooter is fine. Until an entire playoff series is on the line. A season is on the line. The comfort a coach has when they can give the ball to Curry or KD to ice the game is a different level than giving that same ball...

re: Official 2018 Pelicans Offseason Thread - Crewz
I don't believe Rozier is good. I really don't. Any guy they put in that role, in that system greatly outperforms his past or future (when they move on elsewhere) vs. other systems. I'll keep Payton and Frank Jackson and use assets for a wing. Not Terry Rozier. ...
