re: New Orleans Pelicans are willing to part ways with Brandon Ingram in hopes of getting Dame

Olshey has been the GM since 2012, I just don't see him being the guy that gets to rebuild after Dame. I think a Dame trade timeline is going to kind of be like what happened here with AD. The Blazers will try and make something good happen this season, they'll fall short, entertain trade talks at the trade deadline, before ultimately firing Olshey and hiring a new GM to trade Dame next summer.

Yeah, I really don’t see them moving him this offseason.
And as much as I like the idea of Dame on the Pels, part of me would rather them pursue SGA.

He has looked absolutely pathetic in the last month. He said that Stotts was 100% responsible for the failure and that the roster was not the problem at all. Then, he told Lillard that they couldn't hire Kidd because of his past baggage, only to hire another guy with somewhat similar past baggage. Some reports indicated that they were about to about to hire Becky Hammon (who the owner wanted) when Dame objected (which brought a backlash upon Dame). The optics of rejecting a woman in favor of an alleged rapist is really bad in Portland and causing lots of negative press in one of America's most liberal cities. Then, yesterday, at the introductory press conference for Billups, the Blazers PR person stopped questions about the incident in Billups's past, while Olshey told everyone to simply trust him in his claim that they had done a really thorough investigation of it and determined that no non-consensual sex had occurred.
It's just been horrible for Olshey. I am honestly surprised that he still has a job today -- I don't think that he will for long.

Knicks: Dame, Nurkic, 4 2nds from Pels (2 in 21, 2 in 22)
Pels: RJ, Covington
Blazers: Adams, Bled, Obi, Kira, 4 1sts from Knicks, 3 1sts from Pels
We'd receive RJ Barrett and RoCo for 4 2nds, Adams, Bled, Kira, and 3 1sts?

I know we shite on demps for bad trades and signings. But holy shite, olshey is another level.
I'll be honest, we shouldn't go all in right now. I would love to, but we need to build up this young core (including keeping ball), make the playoffs, and make a little noise.
Next offseason, assuming same goes scorched earth, we pull the trigger then.

Which trades did Dell make that were bad?
The worst trades he made were the ones he DIDNT make - Gordon, Anderson, etc.

I like that idea. I know he has injury history but would love to get Nurkic in that deal.

I like the general premise of this trade, but I’m having a hard time determining if thats good, bad or moderate value for any of the teams involved.
I’m also thinking RJ and Ingram might become redundant as RJ develops.
IDK, pretty unique trade idea. Fun to spin the wheels on it.
Potential rotation would be
Zo
RJ
Ingram
Zion
Roco? He excelled as a small ball 5 in houston
NAW
Naji
Hart? / Didi
Wenyen/ James John
Hayes
Billy
Of course try to find another shooter or two as well potentially instead of Hart, Johnson, Billy
Could be a nice team with a lot of position and matchup versatility

Roco doesn't have as much value as he did last year. Kira's value is the equivalent of a 1st, so basically you're giving up the equivalent of 4 1sts for RJ and Portland taking on Adams and Bled, and the 4 high 2nds go to NYK who would otherwise take RoCo, but you're getting him instead.
May take a 4th 1st to get the deal done, and we keep the 2nds, but you get the gist of it.

Think of it as 2 separate trades.
NYK trades RJ to Pels for Adams, Bledsoe, Kira, 3 1sts
Portland sends Lillard, Roco, and Nurkic to NYK for Obi, Kira, Adams, Bled, 7 1sts.
We just turn around and give 4 2nds to NYK for Roco.
Seems like great value for Portland, and a little bit less than NYK would have to give up if they were having to compete by themselves with an offer.

get wiggins, 7th pick, 14th pick, and j poole a decent guard.
They’d have to swap out 14 for Wiseman for me to not even hang up….
And take Adams.

Yeah I think the framework is good. Thanks for the breakdown. I like that it’s a trade that improves the team, doesn’t use every chip, makes sense timeline wise, we replace 2 vet “leaders” that can’t play, with one that does, and probably would make Zion happy.

RJ Barrett seems like a #2 at best, so I could see a team looking to tear it down valuing a bunch of picks more than Barrett.

So has Ingram and Langdon going to Game 6 together been discussed in this turncoat thread or no?
Posted on 7/1/21 at 12:40 am to ThanosIsADemocrat
Were they shown on the telecast?
Posted on 7/1/21 at 12:43 am to 3PieceSpicy
Didn’t catch it if they were, but being reported.
Maybe it’s time to realize that Brandon Ingram is as much as a “Pels lifer” as Jrue was.

If I'm the Blazers/Wizards, I would absolutely take "all of the Lakers picks" or "all of the Bucks picks" or "all of the Pels picks" over a trade for fricking Barrett.

Wasting a lot of first round picks early in his tenure here.

a lot of those are overblown and failed due to bad luck. the best example is Asik
we are CURSED with injury luck and Asik is that. he went from being a super elite rim protector to nothing when we got him b/c of injuries
another example (if you're counting buddy as a 1st) is the cousins trade
if we did this deal for Lillard and he blows out his achilles and becomes mediocre. are you going to say we wasted the capital we sent for him?
