maybe Ainge thinks he can get BI and revitalize his trade value as they tank to go along with the picks we’d give them. Not the worst idea. They aren’t winning any time soon.

On the other hand can you imagine a lineup of Zion, Trey, Lauri, Hawkins and CJ. Man that shite would be fun.

That's a race to 150

Never said he was. Framework would likely still include the Kings, with Huerter, picks and Trey all going to Jazz. Again, not something I would do and why I think we are just window dressing in any public Lauri discussions

Yup build up BI stats on bad team while tanking for Cooper Flagg.

They made it clear they want picks. If they won't pay Lauri 50 mil a year, they sure as hell won't for BI. The only way it would work is if BI goes to a third team and they get picks and possibly young players from us.

Definitely not worth gutting the roster to land Lauri when you have Trey who give the team the same style of play but at a cheaper price. And besides, we have holes in the frontcourt that needs to be sorted out.

I'll be absolutely shocked if our involvement is anything more than a secondary team.

Hes 7’0 and 240. Averages 23 and 8. Just cause he shoots 3s, it doesn’t negate his ability to play center.

It doesn’t confirm either. Lauri can’t play center because he isn’t physical enough. He’s also had a fairly poor injury history. He might be 240, but Jokic is 285. It’s all fun to say there’s only so many Jokic and Embiid’s etc. until you go against Gobert, Lively, even an Edey and can’t get a single rebound and are hoping to beat good teams. It’s not a realistic formula.

Theres no one who can beat Jokic.

However, there are many Centers that Lauri could play against in the WC.

Who says he can’t go against these guys and be successful? Also he could start at center and then play PF too. Hes not stuck playing center the whole game. Come on man Edey? You think Edey will be able to guard him on the perimeter?

I dont think Griff is really set on getting Lauri and being in the same position as with B.I. negotiating down from a max contract. Plus, I think Griff is set on his original vision of drafting B.I.'s eventual replacement if all went according to plan. That time has come to fruition. Griff knew after acquiring CJ that he would need Herb, who was on his way, and Trey to take considerable leaps in their development as a means to sustain a lasting, competitive team.

We have to fill out 4 roster spots with B.I's trade being the primary source in doing so. Going after Lauri doesn't accomplish that in the interim and further complicates our ability to stay under the luxury tax line for as long as we can or mandated by Gayle to do so.

Lauri is not a 5. Yeah him and Zion can play it in a pinch, but that cant be the norm. Just get Kessler, maybe Collins if we cant/are not getting Barnes and let whoever wants Lauri as a third team, pay Danny's ransom. We dont need Lauri if it costs any part of our core, Trey included.

Right if you’re looking for a big to defend against Jokic, you’re in trouble.

Lauri can play center A LOT better than Zion.

Honestly if you guys just wanted a traditional 5- we should have just resigned JV. Obviously the pels dont feel this way.

Yeah, not interested in overpaying for Markannen both in assets and then again in a long term max contract. Maybe we are looking to be a facilitator to get Kessler out of the deal.

If Golden State is getting Lauri and we are facilitating, what do we get besides Kessler?

Possibly Kuminga? A ton of picks and a big arse TPE?

The Pels want an athletic switchable big that can defend the rim. That’s why they moved away from Jonas.

If you truly believe that Lauri can start at the 5 on a contending team, that’s ok, we will just have to agree to disagree. He will never start at the 5 in the NBA. Again, because he is not strong enough and does not protect the rim.

it’s obvious Willie prioritizes pace and shooting for his bigs with the ability to defend the perimeter and switch ability. Dude preferred 6’7 one legged Larry nance over JV.
