[quote]As fricking annoying as the Jordan Poole trade, keeping Bey will be fundamental moving forward.[/quote

This is what I expected of the Poole/Bey trade. I KNEW Bey would be the jewel of the trade and made it one I could swallow. Bey is a baller and I wanted him in the '20 draft. I was sold on him being a Pelican from watching him at Villanova and every time I caught a game, he was tough, hitting threes at a ridiculous clip--45%, a leader, no mistakes, plays sound basketball and a very good defender. He was the selection to us in a # of mock drafts and I was hopeful but didnt see him lasting that long so that he would be there at 12. Didnt think he would get past 7 or 8. When it got to 10, I was sure we would get him---NO---Griff goes and pick KIRA LEWIS. I cut off the tv when that happened and said Griff can't draft players and didn't have to in Cleveland with LeBron there and being the "GM" trading picks for vets.

I was pissed bc Bey was there for the taking. That scenario is when I knew Griff sucked at evaluating talent, bc Trajan would of never picked KIRA frickin LEWIS, period, but Griff didn't trust Trajan yet I believe to give him real-autonomy as the "GM in title" to make picks until Trajan sold him on taking Herb and it panned out. (Wish Trajan was our GM now, one year, too late, but I digress).

Bey came in the league and immediately looked like a vet who could defend and knock down shots--quintessential 3 and D guy, and he could drive to the goal and goes to the line. He just knows how to play ball. Period.

Fast forward, I was agged with the Poole trade until I saw Bey added in it and was shocked Washington would let go ofPeriod. he was coming off that ACL injury and missed most of the year, so they never really saw his fit with the team, when he got signed after playing in Atlanta.

Bey is here bc of Troy Weaver, GM of the Pistons at the time and drafted Bey himself.
But an absolute fail at trading Saddiq for James Wiseman, cause he valued Wiseman size????. (Again, I wish Trajan was still here. Damn, Joe and Troy dont instill a confidence that they are competent evaluator of talent. But, it seems they did well with Fears and DQ, despite the ugliness of trading the 1st this year. Can yall imagine if DQ didn't look promising this year what we would have felt? Yikes!!
Further, Troy, rightfully being fired by the Pistons, lands with the Wizards, suggesting to the brass to sign Saddiq.

Now, for a third time, Weaver gets Bey in the Poole trade, which is the salvaging aspect of trading CJ for Poole. No way Poole should have been viewed as the potential #2 option, he's a 6th man at best. Just like Trey ain't a #2 or 3 option himself and that's where Joe and Troy went wrong

Im glad its panning out for Bey in N.O. Hes gotten progressively better through the years, after the injury and now with him healthy, we seeing that he is a solid starter/6th man. He's been the most consistent player and important for us this year. He can get you 15-20 all day. And knocks down his threes. Lost a little step defensively but not much, still a good defender within the scheme.

KEEP HIM. Hes heating up now 18 months after the injury. Last 5 games--26/8/4 averages... And locked in for the next two years at a #6mil a year. Almost criminal for someone of Bey's capabilities.

If they mess it up and move Bey on some dumbshit, Im done watching them. Hes that vital to this team's future success and should be considered a core player moving forward.

The fit that Payton is wearing in that pic is fire. That purple and gold just sticks out when the colors are worn in the right way.
You can tell he thinks he looks clean and " you can na not tellin him nuthin,"--- in my scarface voice.

If they get both, it would be a quick hoarding of an embarrassment of riches from a team prospective, in the portal. Have never seen anything quite like this... The intrigue of watching that team come together and the inherent expectations will be fever-pitch.
I'm now on board with faint whispers of legitimate Championship type talk. Secure a pair of solid safeties and a starting LT, you start to wonder if Nuss puts it together, this iteration of a team can realistically attempt to emulate 2019's blueprint...

Come close or surpass such a lofty endeavor? Not a chance, this team doesnt have two likely NFL Hall of Famers at wideout coupled with a QB who's confidence and moxie was all-time great and left you without a shadow of a doubt that team was winning a championship and easily, I might add.

BUT, this upcoming 2025 team can be good enough to secure their place as bonafide contenders come next winter...

BK knew his chance to win in a certain window was now if he got Nuss back and shore up positions of impact on winning... He put a bullseye on himself with the taking receipts/meet you in the chip quote, but I guess that's him knowing HE HAS to produce. It's his and this institution's reasoning for coming together... He knows every coach since Saban has won a chip. He is EXPECTED to do the same in exchange for a n annual salary commensurate with consideration as one of the best in the sport.

It appears he will have all the pieces needed to put the burden on him and his coaching prowess. No excuses.

Yall are going to be disappointed in Hurley. I don't think he ever throws a pass at a sec school. Dumbest thing you can do is go be a college qb at 16.

This??

Unless Hurley was built like Adrian Peterson or Bo Jackson coming off a high school field, I don't understand who saw fit to let this child basically be 2 grades ahead of what he should be playing at and to what end?

Cant imagine his physical, emotional, social and overall personal independence could be at a level conducive to where it needs to be to manage and compartmentalize the various responsibilities abruptly thrown at him in a college setting. Many kids are not mentally disciplined to juggle being on their own and focused on what is important.

It's somewhat common these days to allow younger students entry from an academic standpoint, but to do so athletically is virtually unheard of and there is reason for this: physical maturation. Im pretty sure he still has little definition to his muscles even with a year of collegiate workout routines.

I can't help but to feel this situation will never bear fruit in a Tiger Uniform. And with Van Buren on the roster and presumably more advanced than Hurley in every respect. Do we think he potentially "learns and rides pine" until his redshir t senior year? Those days of such an occurrence are a distant memory.

Hurley will hit the portal at the end of next year... Bc his "advisers" would tell him, he's ready to start at 18. And that's unfortunate for the resources and coaching that will inherently innure to another team's benefit.

Man if we end up with Moore-C (Va. Tech), Mitchell-DT (Texas) and Payton-DE (FSU) which would be massive to get Payton, then BK is going all in next year. Period. I know we need another OL (left Tackle) and 2 safeties, with that position needing a ballhawk---- then I will believe BK meant next year going for the championship...

Seems like maybe he isn't coming...

Will Heldt?

Anyone have any idea if we are still pursuing the guy? Are we the favorites still? Did he visit? Is he visiting other schools?

I'm thinking the coaches have a mindset to start Pickett at safety his freshman year. I thought that when I started paying attention to his tape and given fit. I feel the coaches have to see it live and in person to feel comfortable starting him at corner. He's gonna start. No doubt, but I think they asking him to consider safety at the outset.

Plus, he is damn tall for a corner, i should know, im 6'5 and tried corner and considered myself to have track speed or close thereto. There's a reason you don't see it at all really at that height.

Tough to get them hips to swivel and burst with foot to ground revolutions in order to keep up with elite speed WR's standing 5'9-6'0. Had to realize sheer physics is in play at the college level and beyond. He can get some reps in practice but I see him as a safety incoming.

Dude is trolling hard... Wtf should he get to satiate your satisfaction?
Don't get me wrong, I assume Van Buren is a good insurance policy and glad he joined the ranks, but I can't help but to feel that all these players transferring is diminishing the sanctity of the game and what was special in the college game, brotherhood.

Now I know, I know, different times and era now, but to see examples like Van Buren, who ostensibly would be the "favorite" starter for State next year and beyond, Maalik Murphy at Duke, Mensah leaving Tulane, amongst the other countless examples across all positions, teams the overall landscape where STARTERS, LEADERS, CRITICAL PIECES of your football team leaving and going elsewhere, en massè, are demoralizing and program killers.

I understand the players who are looking for more playing time, stuck at the end of the depth chart, players looking to face better competition, players and a few other scenarios that are more than understandable (I'm learning to accept the financial incentives have become a governing factor).

However, to see the exodus of any given team's key players, whose teammates, school student body, alumni and die-hard fans (I leave out coaches for obvious reasons) have the prospect of growth and belief in the team's future success, get pillaged and ravaged is unfortunate.

Fortunately, for us LSU alumni and fans, we are CURRENTLY a premier destination, amongst the carnage, to where not only can we withstand the inevitable defections but we have the cache and resources to enhance and augment the team's talent through the portal.

Team's like Wake Forest, Duke, this year's Vandy and Army etc, whose success is inherently built upon hidden gems amongst the recruiting classes, calculable redshirting and gradual player development, all in an effort to have 1 year out of every 4 where they have a seasoned, upper-classmen team that can reasonably compete and/or win against the bluebloods of the sport.

The divide of the haves and havenots are going to be more prevalent, less up-start teams, less upsets and less hope and realistic chance for a majority of fan bases that there team can grow and develop to beat top teams on any given Saturday. So the Appalachian States of the world beating Michigan in the Big House will be feats of yesteryear bc their star QB, who gave them a fighter's chance to beat them, TRANSFERED to Michigan over the past summer. No more Jake Dellhomes at ULL beating Texas A&M, bc both of his star receivers and running back transferred..

I'll start watching the NFL again bc college is now the same thing. The allure of the college game is gone.

This team does not value the ball like they should. Way too often they try to make passes that get deflected and ultimately stolen. MCMahon has got to make them respect the possessions more. Idk what he tells them when it comes to that. I know he doesn't take anyone out for a poor turnover to send a message to the team and that's an Achilles heel for us.

Yeah Miller doesn't look engaged really. A little early to hit the freshman wall.

Our bigs need to be more comfortable when getting fed the ball at the free throw line against a zone. They don't know exactly what they should do. I assume they're not comfortable with the immediate shot nor skilled enough to put ball on deck and go to score or back down in the paint for a little over the shoulder make. This is where not having Jalen in the middle is evident.

Man SMU does not appear to be a team that should beat us. Limit turnovers, keep up the Defense, flash Sears or Carter in the middle of that zone for scoring opportunities and we win comfortably.
Defense is elite right now, no lie. They play with this tenacity from here on out, they finish above .500 in SEC.
