Depends on how much they would value breathing room under the tax as that would save them around 5 million.

Maybe but if they put Bogi by himself on the market, I think they'd get better offers than Nance

We have Herb for All NBA defense, Murray just needs to be better than CJ, which I expect him to be. Add a defensive center replacing JV and your starting defense takes a huge step as soon as they realize Trey should be starting over CJ

My point is that I think there is still a high-level defensive player in Murray and Willie may be able to get that back out of him. If he can, now you have Murray as your on-ball disrupter, and that allows Herb to become more of an off-ball roaming menace.

If we can somehow also land a decent rim-protecting center as a starter, now you may have enough to cover for Trey and Zion. Trey will no longer have to cover the 2nd best perimeter or post option, and it gives you more places to hide Zion.

If Herb can increase his 3-point attempts per game, we may just generate enough shooting attempts (While not mind-blowing, Murray is at least willing to shoot the 3 ball) to not bog down the offense.

If you want to trade up, the obvious spots are 7, 8, and 9

Ingram + 21 for Ayton + 7

Ingram for Zach Collins, Keldon Johnson + 8

Ingram for Marcus Smart, Brandon Clarke + 9

Good chance that one of Clingan, Dillingham or Topic are there

Yeah Shamit posted that and posted a snippet of comments he made about Dejounte Murray. He's alluding that we're discussing a BI for Murray trade

Murray doesn't have to be all defense with Herb next to him. I mean CJ is as useful as a folding chair on D.

I’ve been banging the Murray drum for a while now. But I always believed it would come in conjunction with a CJ trade too. I’m afraid we are going to do a BI + Nance for Murray + Capella trade and call it a day. A starting 5 of

Murray
CJ
Herb
Zion
Capella

Still presents a lot of the same issues we had last year.

I know a lot of you don't care about betting, but they aren't going to put BI odds out there unless they know something. They've been having "which team so and so plays for next" odds for PG, Lebron and Klay for the last few weeks.
They just added BI and Trae Young in the last 2 or 3 days.
Odds haven't changed for BI since yesterday, as it's still Pels 1st, Sixers/Magic next, then Hawks/Rockets/Pistons.
Trust me, they'll know something before it's about to happen.

They started putting Risacher as the #1 pick before it started getting talked about Sarr not being the #1 pick.

With Philly and Orlando having cap space to burn they could be discussing 3 team options where BI goes to one of them and pieces to Hawks and Pels. If rumors of Hawks wanting to rebuild are true then that would make alot of sense also with something along the lines of this:
Philly: BI
Pels: Murray, Okongwu
Hawks: 16, 2 future 1sts from Philly

That would open up a shitload of breathing room under the tax for Atlanta to play with along with giving them picks to use with their 3 large TPE’s they would have.

Exactly. Murray as the #2 defender after Herb is pretty good. And I'll remind you all again that Murray had more deflections last year than Dyson and Herb, so he's obviously very active on defense.
The Hawks just suck on defense.

I think if the Hawks are sending us Murray, they are demaning Dyson back (b/c we aren't sending Herb), or for us to at least find a similar defensive wing to send back to them to protect Trae.

That still doesn't tell us anything useful though because we don't know what direction Atlanta is going. If they are looking at a rebuild though, I could see us dealing with the Sixers/Magic and them sending future assets to Atlanta who sends us a Trae or Murray package. Even if they keep Trae, some sort of Suggs package for Murray would work for all 3. That makes a lot more sense to me than the Pels are going to trade BI for the limited present assets the Sixers and Magic have.

Kessler would have a FG% in the 70%+ b/c all he's doing is receiving alley oops and dunking put backs, which is all we need from the 5 position.

You forgot "absolutely clogging the paint for Zion." That's where it all goes awry.

That doesn't necessarily impact a Pels trade with the Hawks, unless we aren't sending BI over to them.

ETA: if they are trading for BI they have to send more salary back than Murray regardless of when the trade is done.

I mean, yeah, the Hawks want the best player in the deal AND a salary dump, but frick the Hawks.

If the Hawks keep the number 1 pick, it does seem like Donovan Clingan is the pick, and that would only make sense if you keep Trey. The Hawks would have their frontcourt of the future with Jalen and Donovan. Trey would have a big time rim protector to cover him defensively, and Trey will get Donovan a ton of easy baskets. B.I. may be a good fit offensively with Trey as well.

Trae plays for Atlanta
Trey plays for New Orleans

I'm more just pointing out that something obviously is about to happen, hence why they put his odds out there 2-3 days ago, and that the odds will change dramatically real quick when something is about to happen.
