Saw a post from an "insider" on a Hawks board say that from what he understands, the framework of a Murray trade to Pels is pretty much done. He said he assumes BI is coming back along with another piece. He said the final decision on the 5 going out (Capela or Okongwu) has not been finalized and may depend on whether the Hawks end up with Clingan tomorrow night.

This seems reasonable enough, but kind of weird to frame it as "if the Hawks end up with Clingan"- If they want him, they can have him. They have the #1 pick!

How would the Hawks NOT end up with Clingan tomorrow night?

The pick first

I don’t see the Magic giving up WCJ, Suggs, and 18 for CJ, Clarkson, and 21

I feel like a lot of people are undervaluing Suggs and, specifically, what the Magic think of him.

i'd think that means that atl would need a draft trade of sorts. ain't drafting him no. 1.

Agreed. Suggs is their Herb Jones. They’re not trading him.

There was some trade down rumors from Atl’s side late last week. I wonder if that is connected in anyway

From what I've heard from Givony lately, he thinks that the Hawks do like Clingan, but he thinks if they stick at 1 they would take Risacher. They could hypothetically move down to 4 and draft Clingan there though.

They're focusing on Klay so I don't think they make any major moves unless that door is closed.

Not if the Rockets are threatening Clingan at 3. True or not, that's been floated out there and would make the Hawks think twice about moving down.

I'd call their arse on that bluff, they aren't drafting Clingan when they have Sengun already.

The rumors are not about Houston taking Clingan, it’s more that teams like Memphis and Utah are trying to trade up to 3 to take him.

There has been a lot of talk/speculation of them trading down from 1 and still trying to get Clingan. Who knows?

Yeah, I saw talk that Houston wants to use #3 to get a veteran and there was a rumor of trading to Memphis for #9 and Smart so that Memphis could take Clingan. A whole lot of misinformation this late in the process.

The asking price for Trae is ABSURD...and that is 100% fact.

I"m sure they do think highly of him, and it might take more than what i said.
But the Magic have said they want to add some front court scoring to their team, and CJ and Clarkson would do that.

I'ts probably wishful thinking they'd send Suggs out for CJ/Clarkson.

I just know that ATL is going to want someone like Dyson or Suggs back to pair up with Trae.

The trade is being held up on the first pick... Yes, you heard it. Hawks want Clingan. That is 100%. They are trying to find a way to get him, meaning trading down. Clingan is literally the holdup of the trade at the moment. Tomorrow will be a big day..

I would think the bigger danger is Washington trading out. They have jack shite on the roster and this is not a strong draft, so they may as well trade back and acccumulate assets.

Agreed. I worry that the Magic might want Murray too and are willing to include Suggs +other assets. It could make sense for both sides. If that offer is on the table, we would essentially be forced to include Dyson if we want Murray.
