That would be way too expensive the following season when BI/Lauri/Sabonis would all be making $45+ while Fox is making $35ish. That's like $170 for 4 players.

This would definitely be a huge issue for them, they would have to feel comfortable that they can re-sign Ingram and Lauri for less than max to do it, or decide they’re just going to max everyone and trade someone after, just try to go all in for at least a season

I agree, its one or the other, not both.

Ranadive is worth 700mil, so I imagine they have 1-2 years of tax willingness before it gets blown up.

Yeah this would be tough.

Outgoing assets: Carter + Murray + (picks)

Traded: Lauri + BI + Kessler

Jazz would still want (3-4) 1st with just Murray coming back and losing Kessler.

We would be looking at Carter + Kessler + (1) pick

Lets say Ainge lowest take is (3) 1st + Murray for Lauri + Kessler. I still think he may want another 1st.

Even with Carter + Murray they would have to trade (4) 1st minimum, maybe closer to 5-6.

I see the value as:

(3) 1st + Murray = Lauri
(3) 1st + Carter = BI

Sac prob wants:

(2) 1st + Murray = Lauri
(2) 1st + Carter = BI

Base package would be something like:

(3)1st + Murray = Lauri
(2) 1st + Carter = BI

This is before considering Kessler who Ainge will definitely value at 1-2 1st.

So this could probably get done if we were ok with:

BI for Kessler + Carter + (1) 1st. (Giving a 1st for Kessler).

Feel like we are trying to get Carter + Kessler (2) 1st in this scenario.

(2)1st + Kessler is the worst package I'd want to take if given the option between (1) of Carter/ 1st. We just wouldn't have the playing time for him. The pick is more valuable to make the next move. I think our FO sees this.

Sac wants less than that. They do not want to give up Murray (and maybe not even Carter unless for Lauri). They are probably trying to give up players like Barnes, Huerter, Lyles, Duarte and future picks.

Probably, but these are just salary matching, not really assets.

I agree. However, they have said that Murray is not available in trade talks, so they appear to be banking that someone wants these types of players with picks.

Sacramento's goal after giving up what they are going to have to give up for BI or Lauri would be to at least be what Minnesota has become, a team that can make the WCF. You have to leave them with enough present value that they believe that. That may well include Carter being off the table, and you just have to get them to agree to give up more future value to balance the trade.

Agreed. For this instance keeping EITHER of Murray/ Carter will cost them (5) 1st minimum. If they keep both then they are trading (6) 1st to acquire BI + Lauri.

Looks like they will end up pulling the trigger on BI knowing the cost.

The issue is that we can take our own assets + what Sac gives us for BI and still go get Lauri behind their back.

I think this is what Sac is trying to prevent.

We can offer more than the Warriors if wanted and even if they make that trade they are looking rough.

Agreed, that it is the way I think they view it. They are likely more willing to give up picks than promising young players like Murray and Carter.

Yeah, probably more likely

Not sure, What young player could we include that would entice Ainge? We do not have anything better than Murray that we would be willing to include (i.e. Murphy or Herb).

I really don’t think we are seriously going after Lauri. There’s zero chance Griff would pay Lauri a max next season when he won’t BI a max, and he won’t give up the assets required to get Lauri when it would be more than he gets for BI when they’re the same tier of players.

Same, he doesn’t fit, IMO.

Agree. IF we are talking to Utah, likely for Kessler.

I think the team should go get a solid center with BI as a trade asset and focus on continuing to develop Trey and Herb.

I think moving on from CJ may make sense also to stay flexible with salary cap.

The Pels have a chance to create a suffocating defense while still having scoring talent with the right moves.

I am super excited to see Dejounte, Herb, and Trey cause defensive havoc on the perimeter.

I can't imagine waiting into September for this. Not good for us, not good for the Pels or BI. Unfortunately other teams know this and it probably decreases our return slightly
